Description
Come and spend some time in the Fubsies studio and give pottery wheel throwing a go! In this two-person 2 hour workshop you'll get hands-on tuition and learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel. The session is led by experienced potter, Ruth, who will give you her undivided attention and help you get to grips with this fun and creative skill. During the session, you will see a throwing demonstration from Ruth and then you will be free to throw as many pots as you like before the end of the session. Usually, participants throw 2-3 pots during the workshop. Once you've picked your favourite pottery pieces, Ruth will trim, glaze and finish your works of art in the following weeks. The session includes the trimming and firing of one piece per person, if you have your heart set on taking more wonderful creations home you can have them processed for an extra £7 each. Postage can also be paid if you want to have your pots delivered to you once they are finished. Wheel throwing is a messy and wonderful way to unwind and let go! This workshop is open to anyone and everyone who wants to give it a try. This session would make an excellent date for a couple or fun activity to share with a friend. If you want to do this workshop but can't see a date that works for you or you have a specific date in mind please send me a message and I will see if I can accommodate you. Fubsies is also happy to offer you the opportunity to return after the workshop for another session where you can paint the pieces you have created! If this is something you would be interested in then mention it to Ruth on the day and she can run you through the details. Please note: Once the session has finished your pieces will need to be left to dry out before going through two separate kiln firings and a layer of shiny transparent glaze. All of this processing will be done by Ruth and will take approx 6 weeks to complete. You will be contacted once your pieces are ready to collect. Aged 14+ only. Participants aged under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
