Carol H reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"Another visit to Lucy that was full of fun! Drawdown of large lengths of silver wire. So long, I had to leave the studio to continue pulling them through the drawplate. In the afternoon we set up a production line. Lucy prepared the jump rings for me, and then I soldered them, which quickened up the task, and by the end of the day we had finished quite a few. Thank you Lucy."

Linda reviewed: One day salt or pepper mill woodturning course one to one.

"Amazing day. Bill was brilliant, he explained things well with patients and offered help as needed, without taking over. With no experience and his guidance I came away with the most beautiful pepper mill. I’m so pleased with it. Bill’s workshop was light airy and warm. He served me wonderful fresh coffee and was pleasant to spend the day with. The workshop had all the facilities needed. I just took a packed lunch. It was easy to find and get parked. Thank you Bill."

Stephen Thomas reviewed: Hand Spinning For All - Norfolk

"My wife and I attended a days spinning course at the Spinning Barn. My wife attended a course several years ago but has not really used the wheel since. I thought I would give it a go during lock down last year. I got so far but the skeins I was producing were far from consistent and not really fit for crocheting or knitting. I knew I needed to do a face to face course. After reading the reviews for the spinning barn, we decided we would book a course. Upon arrival Theresa was very friendly and welcoming, and even Teddy (her lovely dog) made us feel at home. Teddy took up his place in front of the fire as Theresa looked over my lock down results and assessed my drum carded batts an spun skeins. Though she was very compliantly on my solo effort, she quickly spotted what I had done wrong and it was poor prep work and drafting technique. She started us on the hand carders whilst explaining how it should be done. We spent the next hour producing rolags, improving our technique which each one. When we had a basket full, we then started on the wheels. We started by just peddling the spinning wheels to get our tempo, then introduced a lead and practiced feeding. Once Theresa was happy with that we then got onto the actual spinning. The day was very well organised and Theresa worked at our pace. Making sure we understood each step before moving onto the next. We both produced a skein of wool and when compared to what I had produced before hand, it was a 1000% improvement and I think I will be able to make something from this skein. Overall an excellent day with first rate tuition. We had many questions, which Theresa answered thoroughly. Once we have mastered what we learnt today, we will definitely be looking at booking another course."

The Spinning Barn responded:

"Thank uou so much for such a wonderful review. It makes what i do so worthwhile when i hear how happy students are. Your spinning in lockdown obviously paid off and introduced you a whole new world of craft. I am always on hand to offer support and it would be great to see you for another course in the future. Keep up the good work. Theresa and Teddy!"

Liz reviewed: Introduction to Lino Printing in Cambridgeshire

"I went along to this Lino printing course with a friend and we had such a lovely day. Judith is so warm and welcoming and provided everything we needed for the printing, plus coffee and cakes! The teaching was great for beginner level and not particularly crafty people like myself and for more crafty folk. Judith explained and demonstrated the techniques clearly and the group produced some amazing prints! It was really fun and nice to take some time out and focus on something different for a day and to meet new people. I really didn’t think I’d be able to produce much, but I was surprised at what I was able to achieve. I would highly recommend this course to anyone who would like to try lino printing."
