Description

Welcome to Highfield Forge School of blacksmithing. In this course you get the opportunity to create your very own rustic finish knife made in a traditional way under the expert eye of Artist Blacksmith/Bladesmith, Andy Smith. The first thing I will teach you is some basic forging skills. This will help you to control and manipulate the mass of the steel so you can successfully forge out your knife. You will make a rustic knife over four hours out of a piece carbon steel. I will take you through the forging process step-by-step starting with the handle and finishing with the blade. After the forging is finished, you will have a well earned break to allow you blade to cool and normalise. You will refine your knife shape on the belt grinders and add the bevel ready for hardening. Once we have the blade heat treated and cleaned up, it's time to finish it with the para cord rap handle. I will also answer any questions you may have. The course starts at 10am and runs for up to four hours. You must be 18 or older to do this course. If you are lucky enough to look under 25 please bring ID with you.
