Isabel Markham reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"I received a voucher for this course for my 20th birthday because I have a fascination for pottery but no experience at all. It's one of the best presents I've ever had; the day was so wonderful, and on top of learning so much about the skills and techniques in throwing a pot, I got to take home 4 bowls and 3 jugs with me which can actually be used! Matthew is really lovely and a great teacher. I definitely recommend this course and really wan to go back myself!"

Dimbleby Ceramics - Studio Pottery Courses responded:

"Hi Isabel, A fantastic achievement on the wheel with a lovely range of forms produced. Your pots will be fired and glazed over the next few weeks, They can then be collected or posted out as discussed. Best wishes Mathew"

Cheryl Petty reviewed: Full day leather craft workshop

"I had a really enjoyable day with Rosanna on her one day course, I learnt a huge amount which has now given me the confidence to try more leatherwork in my own and I have already ordered the basic tools to start with. I was able to make a lot of the projects on my list and learn a lot about the variety of leathers and their uses. I also used a wide variety of tools and learn how to insert poppers, rivets, Sam Browne studs and zips, I also learnt some decorative skills and embossing, it was a very full day and I loved every minute. Rosanna is a great teacher, patient, flexible and inspiring and she has instilled the confidence in me to go further, so thank you"

PAM ESSEEN reviewed: Drawing from life with Jake Spicer

"I've been to many portrait courses and this one superseded them all :) Jake was an excellent tutor. The course was well constructed and I picked up lots of useful tips. Our model - Manko - was the best I have worked from. Not only was she beautiful and very interesting to draw - she held poses and returned to poses with great accuracy. I would recommend this course to beginners or more practised artists."

John Graham reviewed: Photography Days

"I have just spent a brilliant day with Sue & Richard. I have had my DSLR camera for a number of years but I knew I wasn't getting the best from it. I have learnt so much today from Sue & Richard that will help me take better photos. Although the weather wasn't brilliant we ventured out to Ullswater where I was given tips on landscape shots and shooting water scenes. The afternoon session was spent in the studio where a lot was learnt about depth of field, setting up a studio at home and photo editing. Richard pointed out where was best to buy photographic equipment. I have already given my list of "wants" to my wife!! Thanks for a great day, that I would highly recommend to all levels of budding photographers. John 1 week a go."

Alison Davies reviewed: Lucy Churchill's Stone Carving Workshops

"I have just come back from a very stimulating course in Stone Carving with Lucy Churchill in York.I really enjoyed myself and came away feeling good about my work. Lucy is a great teacher with a lot of experience. She has very good tools all set out for each individual and she shows you exactly how each is used and what effect they have. I feel I have come away with skills that I can continue at home. She works with your ideas getting the best from each person as well as guiding you towards suitable subjects. The small classes were very good and Lucy was there at all times to help and advise. I shall certainly go again. Worth the long trip from Cambridge. Yes and the food was delicious! Alison Davies"

Flowers day reviewed: Blacksmithing Beginners day courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Attended the taster day earlier in 2019. Didn't want that day to finish and had the same feeling this time. Somehow after eight hours we all had produced at least four different flowers (which look like flowers!) and these were then welded together to form a unique bouquet. Thoroughly enjoyed the entire day. We were busy and did a lot! Adrian and Andy were tireless instructors, with a lot of patience. Throughly recommend to anyone who can lift a hammer."
