Vicki Street reviewed: Creating shadows and light in your collagraph prints, course in artists studio near York

"This is the first time I have been on one of Emily's courses and I would certainly book again. The course was very well organised, with plenty of materials for our use. It was helpful having a "focus" for the course, namely looking at using shaped plates and using combinations of both wet and dry materials to make our images. Emily struck a good balance between showing us particular techniques and then giving us space to develop them in a personal way. It was good to be working in a small group, and especially being able to sit in the garden to have lunch and get to know each other. Many thanks, Emily, for 2 lovely days."

Heather Elvidge reviewed: Mouldmaking for Slipcasting with Ed Bentley

"A brilliant introduction to mould making. Ed was extremely knowledgable, friendly, approachable and kind. All the students in my group completed at least one 2 piece plaster mould from which to slip cast. Ed made sure everyone understood each stage of the process and gave plenty of opportunities to make notes or video of the various stages during demonstrations. Potclays provided a fantastic venue and the lunches were delicious with all dietary requirements catered for. I took advantage of the offer to go on the Potclays factory tour, which was fascinating and I highly recommend it if you get the chance. One week on I am successfully using my own mould! Most of all I had great fun, a lovely couple of days, thank you Ed and Potclays."

Potclays Ltd. responded:

"Thanks for taking the time to leave a review for our Mouldmaking course, Heather! Your comments are much appreciated. Hope to welcome you back to Potclays soon."

Hilary Farndon reviewed: French Polishing & Woodcare - Beginners Course - 1 Day

"I booked onto this course a complete novice and not really knowing what to expect. It was an amazing day and I learnt so much from Ollie who explained everything really clearly. I took along an old oak coffee table which had definitely seen better days and the result was brilliant! I wouldn't have believed I could achieve such a great finish in such a short time. We only had time to complete the table top, with the legs and base only getting to the staining stage, so I have a challenge now to complete the piece at home, but feel totally inspired and well equipped to do so. Ollie also provides a comprehensive shopping list of what you need to carry on with at home, along with detailed notes of all the stages involved which is very useful! I would definitely recommend this course for beginners as an introduction to French polishing and furniture restoration."

Eva John reviewed: Spoon carving course (1 day)

"An excellent, really enjoyable course, with a well-structured step-by-step approach, enabling everyone to produce their own individual spoon. David was an outstanding tutor, providing encouragement and expert advice, whilst maintaining awareness of the health and safety aspects throughout. Extra interesting links and information were sent out by him very promptly following the course. The setting was idyllic, the weather perfect and the food, prepared by David, was delicious. It was great to meet and share the learning experience with a friendly group of new people. We'd definitely like to do more Coppicewood College courses."

The Coppice Plot responded:

"Hi Eva, Really pleased you enjoyed the day of spoon carving. All the best and happy carving, David"

Julia Jepps reviewed: Learn to papercut at Wattle and Daub, Godalming in Surrey

"A very enjoyable way to spend a morning and learn a new skill. Aimee was very passionate and enthusiastic about her craft. We learnt how to cut lines and curves before advancing onto our templates. We were shown examples of work by paper cutting artists to see what is possible - some amazing work and creativity. I was also interested in making my own template and Aimee kindly gave me the basic introduction to that, although this is really another full course in its own right. The course was at just the right level for a beginner and we had the chance to complete our first piece. A great way to learn something new in lovely surroundings."
