Virginia reviewed: Cyanotype workshop (half day)

"I had the best time at Lucy's cyanotype course! Lucy taught us both the history of cyanotype printing and showed us how we can make beautiful prints through this quick and easy process. With all the props she had available we were able to tap into our creative selves and let them run wild! With ten minutes to go we were all trying to squeeze in just one more idea from the many that came from the room. Couldn't recommend this enough to absolutely anybody! Thank you so much Lucy, and see you again!"

Mar Marti reviewed: One day leather work course - small leather goods

"E X C E L L E N T !!! I was there for 4 days and I had an amazing time. Far above the expectation. I left with 3 beautiful leather items and plenty of knowledges about leathers, tools, techniques, ... From the first moment you can realize how passionated is Jason about his job and how much he enjoys sharing his knowledge. He was really patient and helpful, and he even answered me a thousand questions I had. It's a hands-on workshop where you get to learn and to do the entire process by yourself, with Jason's help. I don't like courses where you only sit and watch, definitely Jason's course is far from that. I really enjoy it and I would highly recommend it without hesitation to anyone who is interested in leather and handcrafts."

Jill Worley reviewed: Garden mosaic workshop

"Had lovely day in Lynda's studio as rain lashed down outside. I went with my sister and my friend's daughter aged 13 and nephew aged 14. We learned basics of doing mosaics, different methods, techniques, about tools and materials. Lynda supplied notes to accompany the teaching. We were given freedom to do whatever basic mosaic we wanted. I did a pot and the others used plywood squares. All of us were pleased (and somewhat surprised!) at the results. Given lots of encouragement, assistance and ideas by Lynda who is very warm and friendly. An enjoyable and productive day was had by all."

Creating Mosaics responded:

"Thank you for your great review Jill. I was so impressed at what you all achieved in one day. You all produced something different and unique and for your first time WOW!! I hope that I have inspired you all to continue doing more mosaics in the future. You were all a delight to teach. Well done. xx"

Shan Jenkins reviewed: Carry all/tote bag short course

"I attended the making a tote bag. I had a wonderful day. There was a plenty of different types of leather to choose from. Deborette explained what to do, step by step, provided templates and adapted them as I wanted to slightly change the design. I can sew but haven't had experience on an industrial machine, Deborette answered all my questions and allowed us as much freedom to adapt the basic design as we wanted. There were only 4 of us so we had plenty of attention when we needed it. I would thoroughly recommend this course to my friends..and have! I have used my bag and had lots of compliments. I will definitely do another course with her. Great value for money and I left with a fab bag."

Deborette-Creative responded:

"I'm so pleased that you were happy with the day and it met your expectations. It was a pleasure having you and all the best with your leather journey. : )"

Deirdre Farrell reviewed: Stained Glass Weekend for Beginners

"This was an excellent 2 day course that gave an opportunity to carry out every stage in making a stained glass panel. Jude explained everything very clearly and was on hand to help as people needed. Jude has a vast breath of knowledge and gave a very good insight into the wider world of stained glass. All the materials and tools were provided for the course and there was plenty of advice on selecting glass textures and colours. So all you need to bring along is yourself. It was a fabulous course and I now have my own hand made piece of stained glass hanging in my kitchen. I would definitely recommend this course to others. I would like to do more courses with Jude in the future."

Paul reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"Mark is a fantastic tutor and his workshop is great! He was happy to answer any questions that I had (about the making of the box and general questions about woodworking) and struck a good balance between showing me what to do and letting me work on my own. I'm very happy with and proud of the box that I've made, especially as I have never done anything like this before. The sides of the box are dovetailed together and the lid is attached using brass pins, but there was the option to do mitred joints and the option to use brass hinges too. After Mark's course I really want to acquire some tools and try and make some more boxes like the one I've already done. Very enjoyable weekend on the whole!"

Sally Machin reviewed: 1-Day Jewellery Making Silver Copper Workshop for 2 people

"Went on a one day course a few months ago, enjoyed it at the time but looking back I feel slightly cheated. I don't feel the instructor, Linda, completely connected with us or have us each enough direction or attention. I think having 4 people on the course was too much for her and the time available. We were all pushed into doing quite a lot and the day overran by over an hour, because of this my pieces were rushed and aren't properly finished with lots of small scratches and imperfections that wouldn't be there if the day were properly prepared. I was surprised the £100 didn't cover the core materials, this is an unavoidable hidden charge. I wouldn't go on one of three courses again"

Linda Sandeman Jewellery responded:

"Dear Sally, I’m so sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy my workshop. I do appreciate your feedback and hope you do give me the chance to make it right. I would also like to take this chance to comment on your points:- 1. Re not connecting: I’m sorry you felt that there was no connection, and enough direction and attention. It is so important to me that students have great time. Feedback has always been positive but I take your comments onboard. 2. Re hidden costs: It does state in the description that materials are not included and how much you can expect to pay. 3. Re over running: I do overrun on occasions but this is more an exception than the rule. I do hope you don’t judge my workshops by this one experience. My Facebook reviews show another side to my workshops and a lot of happy students. I strive to create an experience that is fun, relaxed and really positive. Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments. Thanks again for your feedback Linda"

"I had a really really lovely weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed all of it and am so glad i finally done this weekend course as i had waited all year to complete it. Elin Brown reviewed: Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop at The Haberdashery, Hitchin

"Attended a workshop with my daughter..... the best birthday present I've ever bought myself. Tuuli is an amazing teacher. Nothing was too much trouble to explain. She helped with suggestions of designs, guiding us all through the process and put up with my endless questions. I am delighted with the pieces I made (managed to get x5 items out of my portion of 'clay'). Daughter made some beautiful items too. Great we got to practice in play dough beforehand to eliminate any potential mistakes. So many shapes and cutters to choose from. I've had lots of ideas for future pieces ....so will be coming back again. Left the workshop buzzing with excitement and achievement and wanting to 'jack-in' the day job and become sliver jewellery artist! Thank you Tuuli"

"My boyfriend and I both did the course and thoroughly enjoyed it! We were really lucky with the weather and working on the split logs outside in the sunshine was a lovely experience. Peter is a very skilled craftsman and a friendly, approachable teacher (he also makes great flapjack which was a fab unexpected treat!) The area in general is very beautiful so you can really make a long weekend of it and enjoy a creative break in the countryside. Thanks for having us Peter! :)"

Maureen B-S reviewed: Basket making in Norfolk

"Thank you Julie and Rob for a wonderful day, Sunday 28th October. The course was well structured with Julie firstly demonstrating the techniques for each part of the basket; we then went on to work the component part with lots of hands-on help and encouragement. Amazed that at the end of the day we all took home a very handsome small willow basket. If you are thinking of signing up for the course, don’t hesitate! It’s a great introduction to willow basket making. Small group of six means that everyone gets just the right amount of help and support. Julie and Rob are lovely people and will make you feel very welcome. Must also mention the selection of homemade cakes - delicious and kept us refreshed throughout the day along with the teas and coffees."

Elizabeth Chaloner reviewed: 2 day - Chicken wire sculpture - make a 3D hare at Swallows & Artisans, Lake District

"I had the most wonderful time, learning to sculpt a hare. The tutor Chris was amazing and informative. The location and view are wonderful and the lunch and homemade cakes were scrumptious. I am confident that I would be able to recreate another hare at home with the skills that I have acquired. I would recommend this two day course and will certainly be doing further courses at Swallows and Artisans!"

Swallows & Artisans responded:

"Hi Liz Thanks so much for your kind review. It was great to meet you and I look forward to welcoming you again soon."
