Nick Walker reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"Bit overdue, but I went to a session with Mort a few weeks back. Mort is fantastic, exactly what you expect by someone seasoned with years of experience in history, archaeology and of course, blacksmithing. I'd strongly recommend the day for anyone wanting to experience a traditional, forged with your hands, with some real world techniques and learning thrown in. Be prepared for a hard days work, with plenty of biscuits, stories and an inspired mind of what you might have been."

Brian Robinson reviewed: Making a stained glass leaded panel

"This introduction course run by Caryl at Harrogate is excellent , the morning session starts with trading in glass cutting followed by selection of a design for a small panel and cutting and selection of glass for the panel. Amazing variety of glass to choose from and wonderful pieces around the room to inspire you. Lunch was provided with a lovely selection of soup salad sandwiches wraps and cakes Caryl is a great host and trainer coffee and tea available throughout the day whenever required. The afternoon session moves on to the lead cutting and framing and soldering culminating in the finished panel to take home. Wonderful course , inspiring instructor, I would recommend this course 100% to anyone. Caryl is an amazingly talented artist and her glass work is beautiful. Thanks for a great day Caryl thoroughly enjoyed it. Regards Brian"

Elizabeth Bradley reviewed: Introduction to Frame Loom Weaving

"Alice is very relaxed and encouraging. Her class size is small for totally personal attention. Very nice atmosphere , and easy to learn good things so we were all keen to return to improve our weaving. I definitely encourage people to bring buttons/ ribbons etc to weave in as Alice showed us so many possibilities!"

Mark reviewed: Blacksmithing - one to one - Hammer Skills

"Bob is an excellent tutor. Patient, intuitive and fun to work with. We're complete novices at blacksmithing with a look to setting ourselves up a hobby workshop. Bob took us from working the hammer and the fire right through to making our own door handles and a giant toasting fork. Thanks for a great day."

Lulu Anne reviewed: Flower crown craft parties - listing for Emily

"Brilliant day learning millinery with Rachel Warrillow. I had never had a go at making a hat or fascinator but have wanted to for a while even buying a few supplies since summer last year. I had seen online tutorials but never had the confidence to start a piece by myself. I think working with sinamay you definitely need a guide the first time so I decided to treat myself to a craft course which I found on this site. The location was ideal and I loved Rachel's website and creations. There is a certain way to cut the fabric, heat and shape it that you couldn't learn as well online. I think the course is good value and you can get a lot out of it. The class size was small allowing an abundance of tutorial time and materials per person. I made two final pieces as well as shaped sinamay we practiced along the way (eg. roses, bows). Rachel is happy to share advice, supplier details and is generous with individual attention. She was kind, engaging and approachable. I enjoyed myself and definitely can't wait to make more pieces!"

JackieHollands reviewed: From fleece to fibre 2-day spinning workshop

"I had a great weekend along with two other interesting ladies learning a new skill from Elaine. I consider myself a perpetual student and enjoy attempting new craft skills and this was by far the most challenging yet at the same time very rewarding. I came away from the weekend with a new interest which I will pursue and that will enrich my other crafty hobbies. Thanks to Elaine I feel ready to embark on a new learning journey. She is a very inspirational teacher and I’m looking forward to exploring the possibilities of this new skill. Thank you to Elaine for her patient explanations and to my two new friends for an enjoyable weekend and also Thanks to my Husband for my 60th Birthday treat."

Jackie reviewed: Mixed Media Painting Workshop in Brighton Seaside Home

"When I read Laura's description of this mixed media workshop, it looked just right for me - not an artist, just someone who enjoys art and wants to learn. I was not disappointed. Laura was an excellent teacher, very patient and willing to give tips and encouragement when I felt I was not up to it! Laura had a wealth of materials for us to dip into and helped us use paint, stencils and found items we would probably never have thought of ourselves. This will definitely change the way I look at re-using odds and ends to create images in the future. Her studio was airy and welcoming along with refreshments and even music. I highly recommend this fun and relaxing course."

Carole H reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"With time off work I visited Lucy in October in fabulous weather for the start of a new project: a silver bangle inspired by the irises in Lucy's garden. I took a wire and paper model and developed a more solid prototype in copper. This was a very useful process in deciding various factors such as the width of wire and the shape and size of a stone. Lucy provided lots of interesting ideas and techniques I might use and I came away with a shopping list of materials for the next stage (can't wait!). All in all another wonderful and inspiring day."
