Matt reviewed: Axe / Hammer Forging Day

"Great experience. Very informative walkthrough the whole process, complete with a nice explanation of why heat treating and tempering work the way they do. Enough work to do that it truly felt like my own completed product, but enough help when needed that I actually have an axe and not some weird bottle opener or robotic crab or something. Will definitely be booking in for another course at some point."

Elaine Briggs reviewed: Glass Artist's Studio Experience Day - Fusing (Private Booking)

"Had a great day with Dawn. We learned how to cut glass safely. Different methods for different types of glass. Practicing on window glass and made something from the bits we cut. Then in the afternoon we moved onto coloured glass and the different methods and techniques of fusing to get different pieces, textures and finishes. Using frit of different sizes and colours to create a couple of decorative items. Can’t wait to see how they come out of the kiln. Just a couple of weeks to wait for it all to be fired. Well worth doing if you have an interest in glasswork Word of warning in colder months it can get quite chilly in the workshop so take lots of layers to keep warm. "

Dawn Turner Designs responded:

"Hi Elaine, thank you for your review - and indeed, it can be cold! It was great to meet you and your lovely family. You were all enthusiastic, open and willing, and I had a great day working with you all - I will be in touch as soon as everything is ready - thank you again for a lovely day. "

Tracey Smissen reviewed: Quilt in a Day, one-to-one course with Amanda Jane Ogden

"I recently attended the Quilt in a Day workshop, and it was a genuinely enriching experience. As a beginner, I felt completely supported from the moment I arrived. Amanda was incredibly patient and calm, guiding step by step through the process. Explaining the equipment we were using and other options available. She taught how to measure and cut precisely, and how to join squares, rectangles, triangles. Every time I felt unsure, she was reassuring and encouraging, which really helped my confidence grow throughout the day. The day course is very well structured - clearly a lot of thought and effort has gone into creating it. I also appreciated the way she shared the history of quilting, explained the options for different types of wadding, gave information about the wider quilting community and the resources available. Her own quilts were beautiful and inspiring — clearly she is very talented and passionate about what she does. By the end of the day, I felt that I had learned so much more than I expected — not just about technique, but about creativity, precision, and community. I left feeling proud of what I’d made and excited to keep going. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone, whether you’re a complete beginner or building on your skills. It was calm, informative, encouraging — and most of all, enjoyable"

Amanda Jane Textiles responded:

"Dear Tracey, Thank you so much for your kind and comprehensive review. I am so pleased that you enjoyed the course and that you are all set to continue with this new hobby. Amanda"
