Willow piglet/small pig workshop with Jacqueline Rolls

X

Description

As an experienced willow weaver, I am thrilled to be leading the Willow Piglet Workshop. During this creative and engaging class, participants will learn how to make charming piglets out of willow withies. I will guide the group through the process, providing step-by-step instructions and tips for shaping the stems into a piglet form. At the end of the workshop, each participant will have a unique and adorable willow piglet to take home and display. Whether you are an experienced crafter or a beginner looking to try something new, this workshop is a fun and rewarding way to unleash your creativity and learn a new skill. I look forward to sharing my love of willow weaving with you and helping you create a unique keepsake to treasure for years to come. As we all work at different speeds, I aim to get you to the stage where you have created a recognisable sculpture that you feel confident to carry on at home, should you wish to do so, if you haven't completed it in the session. If this is your first workshop using willow, please note that working with willow can be tough on the hands, especially if you struggle with hand strength and pinching and twisting movements, etc. Please do contact me in advance to chat about whether the workshop will be suitable for you to attend, or if you are unsure. To do this or if you have any other questions, please click on the 'message the tutor' button below. If you need to cancel the workshop after the four weeks cancellation period has expired, please get in touch with me, as I may be able to transfer your booking to a different class or fill the space.

FAQs

It is often best to start with an activity that offers a variety of small items or a larger shape that is relatively straightforward such as a bird workshop
You are welcome to join us for a more detailed workshop but please be aware that you may not make such a detailed version as someone who has more experience

If you are someone who prefers working on small precise works I  suggest starting with the workshops where we create several smaller items e.g Xmas crafts, garden items, small birdhouses, baskets, etc. For those of you who like to experiment and see what happens, you might prefer something more sculptural to be fair there is no one way and you never know until you try  it will be fun  which ever you decide to do.

I usually find that making a small item can be difficult for anyone who has problems with grip,/ fine motor skills /  small movements, if your not sure please contact me

We often use our thighs to hold items so if this a problem for you please let me know. also working on large items can be quite tiring as it can be quite physical.

If you are not sure  please feel free to contact me and we can chat through the options that might work for you before you book a place
