Description
In this workshop you will be guided in the process of making beautiful botanical art tiles which capture the fine details of the plant specimens you've chosen. At the end of the workshop you will have all the knowledge and confidence required to continue exploring this lovely process at home. In the morning we will talk through the creative process, looking at some example pieces and discussing how we create balanced compositions and capture detail. Where location allows we will head out for a local walk to collect some foliage which we will use in our work. We will then work alongside each other to create our compositions in clay, frame, mix and pour our plaster. After lunch we will move onto decorating and finishing our pieces including demolding, sanding, adding pigments and hanging. The tiles make really lovely gifts or keepsakes and can be framed, displayed on a small easel or simply hung as a beautiful minimalist piece. My aim is to make the day relaxed, fun and informal. The workshop would suit an individual looking to learn something new, a group of friends looking to share some quality relaxing time together, or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion such as a hen-do or birthday. This workshop is open to adults (16+) and can be held at the Tilly and Roo Studio in Foyers or at an alternative venue such as your own home. Maker
Having developed a passion for wildlife and nature from a young age, I am now very fortunate to live in the beautiful village of Foyers, a small Highland community on the south-side of Loch Ness. I have a degree in Wildlife Biology, a post graduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy and am currently employed as a Specialist Occupational Therapist at Highland Hospice, where I am privileged to manage a small but dedicated team of therapists. A much loved and very special part of my role is the facilitation of therapeutic patient art groups in our purpose built Art Room. I love sharing creativity. I also work from a small pottery studio in Lower Foyers, just 5 minutes walk from the famous Falls of Foyers and the shores of Loch Ness. I thrive on exploring new processes having developed skills in ceramics, enamelling, jewellery making and printmaking. Jen x
