Gel plate printing workshop - introduction to monotype gel press
Description
Join printmaker Vicki Jordan for this fun session, experimenting with gel plate printing. Warning - this process can be highly addictive! Gel plate printing is a quick and immediately gratifying way of creating unique monoprints. No printing press is needed. It is a fantastic process for having fun and experimenting, with almost endless possibilities. During this session, I will take you through a range of gel plate techniques - including layering, impressing, image transfer and using stencils and masks. We will also use leaves and flowers to create beautiful unique prints. You will leave with a range of monoprints, which can either be framed as they are, or used to create cards, covered books, collages, gift tags etc. No printmaking experience required. An apron (or wearing old clothes) is recommended. I will provide some leaves and flowers for us to use, as well as some magazines to use for the image transfer technique. However, please feel free to bring any plant materials or magazine images that you would like to try printing (glossy magazines work best for image transfer).
What's included in the price?
- All tools and equipment are provided for use during the session. - Coffee, tea and biscuits included. - You will take home any prints you have made during the session. Please note that I will *not* provide tools or equipment to take home. However, I can provide information on where to buy gel plates if you'd like to continue with this technique. Please bring along an apron if you wish, as well as an old magazine to transport prints home with.
