1 and 2 Colour Lino cutting and printing - (Art in the Barn) Tuesday 25th March 2025
Description
Next Promoted date: Tuesday 25th March 2025 Lino cutting and printing is a very enjoyable process that can be explored at our kitchen tables and requires the minimum of specialist equipment. Many of us may remember creating our first lino cut during our Art lessons at secondary school. If you are looking to learn a new creative skill, but need a process that can be “picked up and put down” and fitted around a busy life, this may well be the technique you have been looking for. Working from your chosen images or a range of ideas available on the day, this one day workshop will introduce you to one colour lino cutting and printing. This is the perfect introduction to this addictive print process, with a particular focus on how you may continue developing your skills in your own home. We will cover developing ideas into designs, safe cutting techniques, alongside hand printing. Single colour prints can also be developed by printing onto coloured backgrounds and exploring collage techniques. However, if you have previous experience of lino cutting, but would benefit from a few prompts and reminders, it’s likely that you would be able to progress quicker and develop a two colour lino print. More experienced makers who are confident with single and multicoloured lino cut prints, might also consider exploring Jigsaw Prints. Working from your chosen images, a particular focus will be how to select an appropriate composition, allowing the lino block to be cut into separate pieces that can be inked individually, before being placed together again and printed. About the Tutor ~ Liz Wellby is a versatile and experienced artist, teacher and maker, with a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post-graduate studies, she returned to Derbyshire, where for over 30 years she has lived and worked. Liz now lives and works on the edge of the Peak District, kept company by her husband and cat called Bert. The workshop will include all materials and use of equipment, with refreshments served throughout the day - just bring your lunch!
