Wayne Dawson reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"My brother and I just had a fantastic day with Mort at the forge. He is a brilliant and patient teacher who imparts his vast knowledge of blacksmithing as well as being an expert on medieval history to boot. Managed to get more done in the day than we thought particularly with Mort stepping in to "help you dress it up" when things were going wrong i.e. a very polite way of saying he would correct our mistakes (of which there were many). We both made small knives in the morning and then I tackled a bigger blade in the afternoon whilst my brother made a very elaborate toasting fork. Overall it was great fun and I would definitely recommend it and hope to be back once I've worked on my hammer muscles a bit more."

"Richard managed the class brilliantly considering we were all had different levels of skill. He was only too keen to help, advise and show us " tricks of the trade " . We could also ask him for advice on any aspect of ceramics - not just throwing - I got some useful information from him regarding glazes."

Petra reviewed: Needle felting - half day - feather felts

"Followed Jane's needle felting workshop yesterday where we learned how to create a cute needle felted hare in a small group of lovely people. I absolutely loved every second of it: the ambience, Jane's patience and sense of humour, the tea and cakes and lovely dog, learning the techniques: it was an afternoon very well spent and one to remember! Jane is a gem, very talented, great to talk and listen to. She managed to explain the techniques so well, I, a person with two left hands(!) walked away with a gorgeous hare I will be showing off to everyone who wants to listen (and to those who don't :P), a love for needle felting and a taste for more! I hope to be able to join another one of Jane's courses in the near future, it was well worth the journey of 3 hours there and back for me :) A++++++"

Joy reviewed: Landscapes in Fleece

"My daughters and I had a wonderful day in Sally Anne’s cosy cottage. We each made a robin in the morning and a basket in the afternoon. SallyAnne has a great teaching style; friendly, relaxed, helpful and very informative. I can’t believe what we achieved in one day and how many new skills we learnt almost without realising! I would certainly recommend her willow courses if you fancy trying a new craft - and under SallyAnne’s guidance anyone will achieve a great result. Thank you for our day."

Bob Monk reviewed: Pottery throwing workshop Saturdays or Sundays

"Nadia demonstrated the processes involved in throwing a basic pot on the wheel. We were then able to put this into practice on our own wheels with satisfyingly good results. If at any time we were unsure of the process or our abilities Nadia was more than happy to guide us in her friendly, gentle way. Lovely day all round in which we learnt a lot. Now how much was that pottter's wheel on eBay?..."
