Hand building pottery is a traditional ceramic technique that allows you to create unique and individual pieces using simple tools, your hands, and your imagination. In this course, you will learn about the characteristics of clay and the magic of transforming a lump of clay into a thing of beauty and permanence (unless you drop it!) Through learning the various methods of construction and decoration, you will experience how to use the tools and how to get the best results from your piece clay. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience in pottery, this course is designed to provide you with the skills and confidence to create one-of-a-kind pottery pieces that reflect your artistic style. You can choose from a selection of hand built techniques and surface decoration to produce a mug, bowl, plaque or sculpture.

FAQs
No, just yourself! All equipment is provided and we even offer tea, coffee and biscuits. Aprons are provided, but its probably a good idea not to wear your best frock.
Yes! Generally, what you make on the day you can take home with you. However, your pottery will need to dry and go through the kiln before you take it home (this may take a week or two), so we can post it to you for a small charge if needed.
For our 6-week continuous courses it would be more beneficial for you to make all the classes. However, we do offer flexibility to attendance in our courses to work around you. Our tutors are on site regularly so if the timings or days advertised don't work, please get in touch and we can see what we can do!
It is less crucial for you to make individual workshops every week, as these are complete classes in themselves.
