Hat Making | Felt Cloche with Susan Widlake of Millhouse Millenary

X

Description

Over the course of the day you will be guided through blocking and decorating your very own felt cloche hat. You will start by trying on various style cloche's and see what suits you and then measure your head to find a block that will fit. You'll learn how to prepare the block, how to stiffen the felt and how to steam and shape the felt hood on the block. With a bit of help from a hair dryer you will then dry it ready for fitting. Once the head is blocked you will move onto your brim; learning how to shape it and wire it to help maintain its shape. And finally, and the finishing flourishes; a band, a feather, a trim, it's up to you (and how much time is left at this point)!
