Make your own contemporary sinamay halo headpiece

Description

If you would like to make your own sinamay halo contemporary headpiece, ready for a wedding, summer party, or special event, in a colour to co-ordinate with your outfit, AND learn some basic millinery techniques along the way...then this is the course for you! This in-person workshop is designed to help you increase your understanding of sinamay (a core millinery product) and how to use it to make a sinamay halo base, an essential millinery technique. You will learn to create your very own fabulous halo-style wired headpiece, and then decorate it with a choice of trims. The course will give you an overview of working with sinamay (including manipulating the bias) as well as how to make sinamay trims including lilies, loops and swirls, to finish your own sophisticated headpiece. This in-person course is spread over two sessions, both lasting in the region of 2- 2.5 hours, with a break for lunch. It is suitable for beginners, though some sewing skills are helpful, and runs with two students only. For enquiries relating to larger groups please get in touch. It would be helpful if you could message me via the 'message the tutor' button before booking to inquire if your preferred date and time are available and to discuss lunch arrangements.

What's included in the price?

This in-person course includes all the basic millinery materials you need to make your headpiece. If you are interested in finishing your halo with premade flowers as your trimming option, please purchase a selection of small to medium silk-style artificial flowers before the class. I will guide you as to the position and attachment during the afternoon session. The course is structured to allow you time to work at your own pace, completing a little homework after the session.
