8 Week Stained Glass Evening Course - Leading or Foiling or 3d
Description
Our 8-week evening course is a beginner's introduction to stained glass construction - either foiling, leading, 3d copper foiling or glass mosaic. The course will give you technical skills and design concepts to allow you to develop your own ideas and make pieces of stained glass under your own steam. You can also make several of the pieces made during our 1-day courses if you prefer. If you've already done some stained glass you can work on a much more advanced project - design and make a window (subject to a size limit), make a wood and glass garden sculpture, make a column lamp or create a number of pieces to broaden your skills in several areas. This course goes significantly beyond the structure of our one-day beginner's class, adding a design skills session at the start, and time spent finishing and preparing your piece for display in the final session. With a maximum of 6 students and two tutors you can be sure of plenty of attention and guidance throughout the class. 8 evenings - copper foiling or leading stained glass course for up to 6 people The first session includes deciding on your first project or designing your main piece, maximum size 500x300mm approx ,with our guidance. We'll ask you to send us a sketch (or you can call in to the gallery!) of your design in advance. The subsequent sessions will include all the tuition required to complete your piece(s), learning at your pace. Throughout the course we'll add in some of the history of glass making and stained glass for your interest. We have created this course structure to allow for flexibility because we all work at different rates. Our aim is for you to enjoy the course, learn more about making stained glass than our 1-day class can include and take home one or more beautiful pieces of stained glass of your own design! Optional - Wood and Glass Garden Sculpture If you'd like to create a wood and glass sculpture we can provide a suitable piece of wood around 1.2 - 1.4m tall for an additional charge, to be arranged in advance. You can choose to supply your own wood and machine it if you prefer, in which case no additional charge applies.
