Mikaela Boon reviewed: Upholstery Course

"I joined Alan’s class to give a chair some much needed TLC. Alan guided me through the process, demonstrating ‘how to’, checking my progress and assisted my learning by explaining where I’d gone wrong when I made the inevitable novice mistakes (thankfully, nothing too drastic under his watchful eye). During each session Alan is constantly on the go, tutoring, guiding and giving support. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone who is interested in learning Upholstery."

Dorset Chairman responded:

"Thank you for your kind words Mikaela, you are an absolute pleasure to teach. I look forward to you returning to do more in the future. Alan"

John Corbett reviewed: Make silver jewellery - one day workshop

"I recently attended a one day introductory course for beginners in silver jewellery making with Cathy. I made my first piece of jewellery in the morning which was a silver band ring and quite an intricate pair of earrings for my wife in the afternoon . Cathy was very patient and gave instruction in a way that was easy to understand and follow. Her knowledge and years of experience shone through and she was a joy to spend the day with. I have every intention of attending further classes with Cathy and would recommend her courses to anyone!"

Plamen reviewed: Clay sculpture, painting : Art Spells Magic Kids Classes

"My son goes to Arts and Crafts at Lucky Studio. He never wants to miss it and awaits it with great impatience. He returns at home with drawings, pottery and various other creations, showing the different styles and materials they study and practice there. It is so attractive that my other son joins from time to time too and gets his creative side working. The satisfaction of my kid is the greatest sign of the success of that course."

Joy Alliston reviewed: Beginners Freehand (freemotion) Machine Embroidery Workshop

"I attended this workshop in Swindon last October. Meg is a lovely, friendly tutor and explained all the steps clearly and patiently. Having given me inspiration to create my own little 'wobbly line' works of art I have made and framed a couple of stitched houses and am super pleased with my first attempts and can't wait to do more. I've made a few greetings cards and most of my Christmas cards which impressed family and friends no end! Thank you Meg, for the fun and friendly class and getting me started on my new hobby."

Tissie Reason reviewed: Needle felting workshop - Create your own woodland creature

"This was an excellent course. Before I attended, I was doubtful of my own ability but I came away from the course pleased with the hare I had made. I am confident that I can continue with this new found skill with the wool I bought at the end of the day. The whole day was most enjoyable, including the lunch. Everything was clearly explained and we were helped at each new stage to progress so that the day flew by and I would love to attend another course. It was fun to do something so different and I look forward to enjoying making more animals. I cannot recommend this course highly enough!"

Debbie reviewed: Needle felting workshop - Create your own woodland creature

"What a fabulous day! Denise introduced us to all the equipment and types of wool and techniques we'd need to make our chosen creature and it was a delight to find out that we could actually do this! All through the day Denise guided us through the process with a light touch, offering guidance and encouragement in equal measure. At the end of the day we all came away with our beautiful animals, all different with their own personalities. A very rewarding and satisfying day with an excellent teacher in a fabulous location. I came away with a starter kit to practice my new-found skills and I'd certainly do another course. I'd recommend without hesitation!"

Lyn Kini reviewed: Intermediate throwing with Richard Heeley

"I have just completed two wonderful days with Richard. As usual the staff at Potclays were really friendly and helpful and despite the group having varying throwing skills Richard made sure we all felt we had progressed and learned a huge amount. He gave us lots of one to one help and demonstrated really well as well as helping with suggestions for any other problems we had with glazes, batt wash, etc. I am now inspired to get back on the wheel and throw bigger pots! I would recommend this course highly."

Louise Matson reviewed: Fabulous felt picture 2 day masterclass near York

"This was the third time have attended one of Bridget's weekend workshops. I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop. Bridget it attentive to everyone's needs sharing her time equally amongst the participants. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience and brings out the best in each participants piece of work. Bridget creates a safe space for people completely new to the process of felting to 'have a go' and produce great pieces of work. The workshops are relaxed and friendly and generate a great sense of camaraderie. A definite must do if you want to lose yourself for a weekend immersed in your own creative flow! She also provides all the tea and biscuits you can consume in a weekend!"

"Our day was well structured and very informative for beginners giving some very useful pointers both on techniques and equipment. Having done various courses previously I was not quite a beginner, but still learned a good deal more. Jonathan is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher who gives all his pupils great support and confidence to take the next steps in improving their skills. I would thoroughly recommend his courses."

Mary Le Breuilly reviewed: Hand Spinning Essentials for Beginners Week-end Residential (half board)

"This four day course is designed to get you up and spinning, and I must say that in my case it achieved just that. I had never spun before but I came home with my own yarn, admittedly a bit wonky, but lovingly spun under the watchful eye of Elaine. As a tutor, Elaine is extremely knowledgeable, very patty and willing to adapt the course to suit the aims of the participants. The small number of students meant you had plenty of individual help and support. As a bonus, the cottage was lovely, beautifully furnished and well equipped. I have returned home feeling capable of spinning on my own and even of preparing my own fleece from scratch."
