"A great day for an introductions of Dry Stone Walling- stretchers, cheek ends, 2 over 1 and 1 over 2- all in a beautiful garden setting. Thanks John for sharing your knowledge and organizing such an enjoyable day!"

"Thank you for your feedback Monty. I am pleased to hear you are developing one of the engineering principles !! It is good to share information to help learn something new. Shirley Hoyne reviewed: Wire & mixed media sculpture courses with James Ort

"I would also give this course the highest recommendation! James is a young, talented artist in all the media he teaches in (plus more I'm sure!), but he is that rare find - an empathetic, balanced and clever tutor. He kept an eye on all of us, encouraging us all to put our best creative 'hats' on, giving advice and an opinion if you asked for it. This is especially vital when you're new to a creative media, as we all wanted our work to look the best it could - and it did!! I was amazed at what I was able to create, but also with all the other great varied pieces of work everyone else created. His encouragement of the group to share ideas/praise/encouragement with each other really works. His pre-course advice was super helpful, all admin re: the course spot on, and he even makes a great lemon drizzle cake!! I can't wait to go back and try other things, soon as possible. This guy is a lovely person and his teaching/studio are REALLY good - just GO :-)"

Tom McGrath reviewed: Whittling course

"Was given a voucher for the course as an anniversary present from my wife, and had the best day ever! Martin's teaching style is excellent--beginning with safety, on to techniques, with discussions of wood choice, sharpening and style, all done with warmth and humour and under the watchful eye of a master craftsman. I would recommend this course to anyone who has the slightest inkling to take up whittling. I enjoyed this day with 3 other friendly gents on the course, and the lunch was fabulous. Well Done Martin! See you in a couple of months for the spoon carving weekend."

Alison Hill reviewed: Introduction to Glass Fusing with Enamels - Full Day Workshop

"Good company (Steve, Lizzie and Kathy), brilliant guidance in converting fanciful ideas into achievable projects with gorgeous glass to take home. My daughter was really pleased with the end result. Planning helped me get the most of the day and it proved helpful to have alternative ideas. Having ideas for stencils cuts down on time although for Kathy the surprise gift led to exploration and wonderful pieces. A note on the production of stencils would help but Steve saved the day and we managed."

Olie Cook reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"I was bought a day course by my girlfriend as a birthday present and I hugely enjoyed my day in the forge. Alex has a fantastic teaching style of showing you what to do and then letting you get on with it! Even though I turned up with a vague notion about making a candlestick, Alex showed me a variety of pictures and then we drew out a rough sketch and went from there. The day flew by but Alex very subtly kept me on track and I got to go home with a lovely piece of metalwork to show off and a big grin to go with it. I only wish I had somewhere I could go and bash hot metal more often."

Simon Keeley reviewed: Stone Carving (relief & 3D) sculpture for Beginners/Ints. - 3D- with Simon Keeley: a 'Quirky Workshop' at Greystoke Craft Garden & Barns near Penrith and Ullswater

"Very many thanks, Simon, for the inspiring and immensely practical course. I had wanted to try stonecarving for years. You will see me again at one of your future course if I am lucky! Gill said she felt all of her 84 years as we staggered back to the car with our lumps of stone - and my muscles this morning tell me which ones I used yesterday.- but we had such a wonderful time. Thank you again. Miriam"

Carolyn reviewed: An Introduction to Glassblowing: Half-day Saturday courses

"Brilliant, I can't wait to collect my pieces next weekend. The workshop was in the afternoon, only 3 of us, which meant that we were able to make 3 pieces with Adam helping and sharing his knowledge. Demonstrating the pieces first and then helping us. Thank you Adam and all your staff for a great afternoon. I'll be back definitely."

Clare reviewed: Table Loom Weaving Workshop - Dobby & Rose

"A very enjoyable introduction to weaving. Well-pitched for complete beginners, with the loom all ready and set up to start weaving straight away. Room to begin to experiment with patterns independently, but with only two in the class, plenty of support to improve technique and answer questions as you go along. Plenty of tea and biscuits add to the enjoyment!"

Tina reviewed: One day Mosaic workshop Moon Hare Studio, Devon

"Excellent way to learn in a small group in relaxed environment. Starting with the basics of tile shapes, by the end of the session you walk away with a mosaic. Hardest bit of the class is deciding what to make and which colours to work with. Loved it !"

"Really great experience! My husband and I went along to the space last week and had the best time. I have never carved before, but found my self instantly involved in the process. Not only a great way to learn a new skill, but also to get to know new people, share stories and have a laugh! More than worth it!"

Paulo reviewed: Sculptural willow weaving - Animals

"This was a great experience. I worked with a group of strangers who, over the course of the day became my friends and at the same time we created a willow sculpture which surpassed all my expectations. Working collectively to create a thing of beauty lifted my spirits and gave me new ideas and skills to take home with me. I have great plans for the garden this summer. Stephen, the teacher was quite inspirational and we had tea and cake. What's not to like!"

Claire Bell reviewed: PickOne weekend weaving course

"A great weave workshop. Thought I knew the basics but James taught me so much over the course of the weekend from initial warping to colour/pattern relationships. Fascinating, and a completely new way of thinking about fabric construction for me. Nothing was too much trouble. A studio that is greatly resourced with beautiful wools, yarns and publications too. I was delighted with my finished piece and would highly recommend. I’m looking forward to booking my next course."

Gillian reviewed: Fabulous felt picture 2 day masterclass near York

"What a wonderful experience. I was a complete novice to painting with wool but managed to produce a picture I am proud to frame and hang. Bridget was welcoming, as were the rest of the ladies in the group, enthusiastic and happy to share her knowledge and skills. Yes sometimes you had to wait for her time but I had bought a group experience so realised this would be the case. I have already recommended her to a friend and we have booked another weekend."

Jamilah Meghji reviewed: Wire & mixed media sculpture courses with James Ort

"What a wonderful couple of days we've had at Pheonix studios! Just finished the 2-day weekend wire sculpture course. James is great - relaxed, encouraging, really keen to understand what you're trying to build and then guide you through it. The studio is lovely - bright, spacious, with all the kit you might need. And the atmosphere was great - friendly & fun. Would thoroughly recommend!"

Marga Schnell reviewed: Mosaic and Glass Art 2 day Course

"It has been an excellent experience to work and learn from Maggie and be in an amazing space with other enthusiastic people. Being an Artist myself with a fair amount of teaching behind me, I especially value and appreciate the input and preparation which greeted us and the detailed instruction of tools, material which took place. Each one of us participants got personal attention, given advice without hindering our own ideas and creativity throughout the two days. Maggie you are an inspiration and your enthusiasm gives inspiration beyond the time we spend in your workshop. Thank you so much."
