Eileen F reviewed: Introduction to screen printing

"All I can say is, if you have never, ever done screen printing before in your life and you really want to do it but you lack self-confidence - then this is course is for you. Ria is absolutely fantastic, very knowledgeable and easy-going. We did have a bit of banter and it was great fun which made the course even more enjoyable and I did meet some really lovely people. The course itself was easy, very detailed and covered inexpensive ways of making a print you could do at home. The materials are free - you can choose from tote bags, tea towels, cushion covers etc. You literally just draw your design, cut a stencil, choose your colours, screen print then stand back and admire your own work! Don’t worry, you’re not left on your own, Ria is with you all the way. I had problems with the squeegee thingy to start with. You’re supposed to make one or two smooth movements down the screen to push the paint through. I just couldn’t get it right but with Ria’s help and me doing a few practice runs I soon got the knack of it. At the end of the day, I had learned something new – a new skill that I didn’t have a few hours before and I was able to take my handiwork home with me. I’m so glad I went on this course. Thanks for a fantastic day Ria and I do hope to see you soon!"

Stephen Murphy reviewed: Spoon carving day - at Court Wood, Llanvihangel Court

"I bought this as an 80th birthday present for my father, we had a great day, relaxed and enjoyable. We came away with a couple of spoons each and a spatula and an appreciation of the skills involved. Roy was great teacher and we enjoyed the wide ranging discussions over lunch. Also the setting is wonderful and added to the relaxed atmosphere, carving wood in a clearing in a woods, what more can you want. Thanks to all involved."

Jill Davey reviewed: Stained glass introduction at Blue Kite Stained Glass

"I had a really excellent day yesterday attending Iain's stained glass course. From start to finish Iain gave myself and another 'student' his undivided attention. We learnt all the stages of making a stained glass panel and were also provided with useful written information to take home. I made a really lovely 20cm square panel which now hangs at my living room window. Hope to maybe take this up as a new hobby in the winter, when the lawn doesn't need cutting all the time! Thank you Iain for such an enjoyable and informative day."

Blue Kite Stained Glass responded:

"Hi Jill, glad you enjoyed it, you should both be really proud of your work!"

Rae reviewed: Saturday Silver Clay Jewellery Workshop at Ransom's Pavilion, Hitchin 9.30am - 12.30pm

"Tuuli is a great teacher and I really enjoyed her workshop. It's brilliant to be able to go with no skills or knowledge of silver clay and 3 hours later come away with some unique jewellery. Tuuli is friendly and very helpful, the small size of the workshops mean there is enough time for her to be able to spend time with each one of you. Would definitely recommend and I'm interested to see what workshops she will run in the future!"

Tuuli Parker responded:

"Thank you so much for this feedback Rae. It is greatly apreciated."

Alexandra Davey reviewed: Resin Jewellery Group Class

"I've just started making some resin pieces and thought I'd go on this course to make sure I'm doing it right and to get some tips and tricks. It was a great few hours where I got to experiment with some different jewellery pieces and ways to colour the resin. Linda was great and started the session walking us through some techniques, by the end we were able to use anything she supplied to make our own things. I got some great ideas and tips that will definitely come in handy!"

Stampaholics responded:

"Hi Alex Thank you for your kind words! I am glad you enjoyed the workshop and learned some tips and tricks that will be useful for your own resin projects!"

Kate Toch reviewed: Frame Baskets, 2 days with Phil Bradley in the Yorkshire Dales

"Wow! I've met some really interesting, lovely people and learned so much about basket weaving in the stunning setting of Broadrake Barn. Thank you Rachel for hosting and sharing your magical space and delicious food and to Phil for being such an ace teacher - the attention to detail, careful instructions and demonstrations ensured that we all produced a basket of our dreams. Thrilled with mine - just need to add those grab handles and then get on down to the orchard to fill it with apples. Looking forward to seeing the 2020 programme for Broadrake and can't wait to get back for some more willow wizardry."

Broadrake responded:

"It was great to meet you Kate, and see the lovely baskets you've already made - hoping that you will create another one at Broadrake in 2020!!"

Barbara Head reviewed: Creating shadows and light in your collagraph prints, course in artists studio near York

"A lovely day with lovely like-minded people. Welcomed with coffee and biscuits and an informal chat about what we would be doing for the two days. Emily introduced us to new exciting ways to print Collographs and encouraged us to try different methods. We were all thrilled with the end results. Emily explained everything simply and was so helpful. The studio is set in a large wild garden very secluded with French doors opening onto the garden. I will be booking again Emily. Thank you."

Emily Harvey Printmaker responded:

"Thanks Babs, I am glad you enjoyed it."

Laura Wade reviewed: Resin Jewellery Group Class

"I really enjoyed this workshop. With just a small group it was very friendly and Linda was able to give us individual help if we needed it. I'm really pleased with the pendants and earrings I made and brought home with me and would definitely recommend this workshop to others who enjoy making things. The venue was also very good with plenty of parking (not always easy in Guildford!), and there was plenty of tea and cake to keep us going too. Thanks Linda."

Stampaholics responded:

"Hi Laura Thank you very much for your lovely review. I am glad you enjoyed the workshop. You have done some amazing work with your pink mica powder pendant and earrings!"

Vernon Needham reviewed: Introduction to Green Wood Furniture Making - 2 Day Course in South Devon

"Excellent 2 days! Thank you Peter and Lulu. Peter's style is patient and encouraging, and his instruction very clear. Some woodworking skills, and particularly an understanding of the structure(s) of wood are an advantage before joining the course, though not absolutely essential. The working techniques help in 'reading' the wood to get the best out of it. I can guarantee all of our course enjoyed it immensely."

John Woodhouse reviewed: maltese limestone carving at mount pleasant gardens

"The course was originally booked for my wife by our children as she loves crafting in all its diversities. I was coerced by her to attend with her. We had little knowledge of what to expect other than the images and reviews on line and were apprehensive to say the least. We should not have worried at all as Andrew was excellent in seeking out our ideas of what we wanted to do during the coming two days. There were no surprises with Andrew, he gave assistance to suit individual needs, skills and attributes as he saw what we were each capable of. My wife Maria and I were thrilled with our own completed items at the end of the course and also with each and every other item produced by everyone else who was there. All the participants on the course interacted and got on well with each other over the two days and were genuinely supportive of each others efforts. We would both highly recommend this course to anyone who thinks it is something they would like to undertake, just go for it, you will really enjoy it, especially the finished work of art you will come away with."

Suzette Berry reviewed: Introduction to mosaics / further adventures in mosaic workshop

"The sculpture mosaic course was relaxed and enjoyable, as are all Kate's courses. It was explained clearly how to use the materials we hadn’t used before and then over the two days Kate was very attentive to us all but gave us plenty of time to work at our own pace, which I think is the best kind of learning. The group were pleasant and I enjoyed seeing everyone's pieces develop with our different styles."
