Description

Have you recently purchased a new sewing machine or are you looking to start sewing and need advice on which machine? Maybe you would like a refresher? Our Introduction to Sewing course is the perfect way to get started. We’ll get you feeling comfortable with your machine, learning the basics and sewing some great beginner projects. Help is always at hand as classes are kept to small numbers, enabling you to ask questions as you go and sort any common mistakes as they arise. There’s a lot you will learn, making sure you will leave with the confidence to carry on sewing at home. We will spend the morning learning the machine basics, practicing techniques, and making a drawstring bag. In the afternoon we will make a beautiful envelope back cushion with opening buttonhole and button. Using your new skills you will sew your project together under guidance and you will leave with the finished items, plus the written instructions as a reminder of the steps you have covered to make them. Once you have completed this course, you will have the necessary skills to go on to complete either our beginners dressmaking workshops or soft furnishing workshops. FAQs

Most machines are suitable for this workshop, however I do not wish for you to pay for a workshop and not get anything from it.
We cover how an electric machine works and how to change and sew the different stitches, so if your machine does not have these, you will obvioulsy not get the best out of the day. Remember you can always hire a machine from me instead,.

Please do not bring your machine if:

1. It is not working
2. It is a mini sewing machine or a kids sewing machine
3. It is a complicated embroidery machine and you want help with embroidery patterns
4. You have purchased it second hand and have no idea if it works
5. The machine is over 20 years old
6. The machine is not electric

If you are not sure - please message me with the make and model and I can advise you

My workshops are geared towards adults.
Please speak to me if you are considering booking for a child

Yes, there is free parking outside the hall

Unfortunately not - there are limited spaces for all of my workshops and they get booked up quite quickly, so to avoid disappointment you will need to book beforehand

If you have a machine, then it is best to bring this along - please make sure it is in good working order

If you do not have a machine, you can hire a machine for the duration of the workshop for a minimal fee paid on the day, please let me know at the time of booking
