Jill Glover reviewed: Glass painting with Sarah Lewis, Wolverhampton

"I really enjoyed this workshop even though the other 3 students cancelled on the morning of the class. So I had extra special attention. Sarah is very friendly and very clever with her glass decorating. Can’t wait to go again. Xxx"

Sarah Lewis Designs responded:

"Thank you very much for you review. It was a shame the other cancelled on the day, but I enjoyed giving you the 1-2-1 tuition. You were lovely company. Looking forward to seeing you again in a couple of weeks. Thanks again Sarah"

Natasha reviewed: Modern calligraphy (full day workshop) - Hampshire

"An excellent and informative class! I was surprised at how much was packed into a day. I have always had a keen interest in calligraphy, but never looked into doing any more than admiring it from a distance. Sunita was able to point me in the right direction to help develop skills, and showed a great understanding for calligraphy. On top of that, you get an endless supply of coffee, snacks and lunch provided ;) they were also very accommodating to my gluten-free needs! I would highly recommend this class to anyone who's curious, or wishes to develop their skills further!"

Gaynor Lewis reviewed: Block Printing on fabric in Derbyshire.

"Liz made sure that this workshop provided plenty of time to learn lino cutting techniques and use it to print on fabric. I was so impressed to go home with so many finished pieces including a fabulous tea-towel and some tote bags, plus gift tags and gift paper all made with my very own fair hands! I have done lino cutting with Liz before but printing on fabric was a new venture for me and well worth learning this extra step. Liz gave lots of tips about design, colour and inks, which was really helpful, and I loved the results. The Slipper Studio is a real haven for anyone who wants a creative break, I will certainly be going back."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

"Hi Gaynor, Thanks for taking the time to review your workshop and I am really pleased that you enjoyed a relaxing and productive day. You produced some lovely outcomes - I am quite envious of your fish stamp! Look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes Liz Wellby"

Rebecca Wright reviewed: Firebird Forge Blacksmithing School

"Great way to spend a Sunday. I really enjoyed getting to know about Blacksmithing and coming away with a completed project. I made a recipe book holder, which now sits proudly in my kitchen. Mort was great, really passionate about smithing and teaching people - even if, like me, you leave your project in the fire too long and it falls apart (lesson learnt), Mort can fix it! I did arrive nearly an hour late and Mort kindly went over time to make up for my delay. So if you're like me and can't read instructions and drive - scout the place out ahead of time. Many thanks Mort and Daisy (the dog)"

"What a brilliant day in beautiful surroundings. The teaching process was well planned and at the end of the day I had made a fused glass piece which I was pretty happy about. Paul and Natalie were so welcoming with almost limitless tea too! I'd definitely recommend this to anybody interested in learning a new technique."

Jane Dawton reviewed: Create gem-inspired stones: polymer clay workshop

"A really interesting course in a beautiful setting. Elizabeth is a good, patient teacher, very enthusiastic and full of ideas with lots of samples for ideas. Nice to be in a small class as able to give each person lots of attention and help where needed. Plenty of refreshments throughout and delicious lunch. My first time working with the clay and I made a beautiful necklace that I shall be proud to wear as it looks so professional. Have already ordered some clay to try it at home!!"

Edna reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"Last time I came to Lucy I made a pair of silver earrings. This time I came to add embellishments to them. We spent the day experimenting with different wire and bead combinations. This was a task in itself as we tried to get an organic look whilst respecting the reflective quality in the silver. By the time we had cracked it, it was time to come home. Now where did that time go? As the saying goes time flies when you’re having fun. In this case when you’re fully engaged with a master crafts person"

Simon Hopkins reviewed: Rake Making Workshop Using Traditional Green Woodworking Skills

"What a great time we had in the woods! Although I have some experience of greenwood working, the opportunity to learn from people (the excellent Peter and Jaquie) who knew what they were doing, knew how to teach, had their own piece of woodland and stacks of excellent tools (that were very sharp - ;-) Peter, that’s brilliant. Introduction, coffee or tea and biscuits free-flowing with the wonderful soup lunch, all heated and prepared. There in the woodlands felt great. This is an excellent course for somebody who wants to practice green woodworking, learn green wood working, Needs a break or needs to get away from the hustle and bustle and demands of modern lifestyle. Thanks again all, and I hope to see you all again soon. Simon"

Kamal Bhana reviewed: Oak stool making experience - rustic carpentry & green wood work

"I bought this rustic stool making experience as a gift for my husband's birthday. We absolutely loved it and had such a wonderful day. We learned a lot about carpentry, wood and different techniques. The best part is that we got to take away a pair of beautiful, handmade stools which are now stunning bedside tables in our guest room. The whole day was thoroughly enjoyable with Ian and his partner, Sabina. Ian is a fantastic teacher. He explained everything we needed to do really clearly and was helpful and attentive throughout. We would highly recommend this course! We can't say enough great things about it! We loved every minute."

Jenny Cox reviewed: Introduction to silver clay in Monmouthshire

"I met Annamarie last year at an event in the Midlands and I have a piece of jewellery handmade by her. I know that she combines traditional silversmithing and metal clay to make a lot of her pieces. This is what I wanted to try. So this week I spent a day with her, tailor made for me to have a go at both basic silversmithing and metal clay. It was a really good day - I learned so much. Annamarie gave me lots of pointers about what to have a go at on my own as a start and I will go back to her studio to learn more. She worked at my pace but pushed me a bit too when I was hesitant to try things. Would definitely recommend."

"Terrific course. And not a contrived classroom but in a real life metal-working shop. We were welcomed, geared up and bashing hot metal within a very short time. John and his team were very accommodating on our individual projects and the end result in each case was beyond what I thought possible on a one day course. It was a privilege to be introduced to blacksmithing by such skilled and experienced guys. Many thanks."

"A weekend well spent with expert hands on tuition from John, offering masses of help and advice along the way. I would recommend this beginners course for anyone wanting to learn the art of wood carving. So much advice and information, I went away inspired and ready to move onto my next project. Take part, take notice and you will not be disappointed, but don't take any sandpaper with you."

John White Woodcarving responded:

"Thank you Stuart, glad you enjoyed it, especially as there was a ban on sandpaper lol."
