Clive Walker reviewed: Greenwood carving at Sallerton Wood

"I had seen the Kuksas on a visit to Oslo so it was a nice surprise to receive the course from my daughters as a Christmas present. I'd done a little carving before but this was in a different league..... I needn't have worried. From the outset, the five of us on the course were made to feel at ease as Andy explained the philosophy of the Sallerton Wood project and took us through the stages of making our Kuksa from cross cutting a large alder log to forming the blank and then finally carving the finished cup. The skills used along the way were extensive and developed a keen appreciation of the material and how it changes during the processes used as well as fine tuning our manual skills where a surprising degree of dexterity was required. I cannot speak highly enough of Andy's obvious love of the environment, his enthusiasm for his art and also his skill and patience as a tutor, knowing when to offer a suggestion or advice whilst always leaving you feeling that you had ownership of your own work. As a place to experience Green Woodworking, Sallerton Wood is ideal. The ten acres of sensitively managed deciduous woodland provide the raw materials whilst Andy, Jane, Alan and friends have created a working environment designed to allow the courses to function regardless of the weather all backed up by excellent woodland facilities. Browse the website and see the smiles on the faces - then sign up for your own course. You will not be disappointed."

Sallerton Wood responded:

"Thanks very much for your review, Clive, and we're pleased that you enjoyed the course. We hope to see you back at Sallerton Wood again one day."

Sue Birdsall reviewed: Glass Fusing with Enamels Taster Class - Make a Tealight Curve

"Never done anything like this before but Steve demonstrated the techniques and talked us through the process. I did find it difficult at first as I was nervous of making mistakes but Steve was on hand to advise and assist. Very pleased with my fired panel and already planning to have another go with friends."

Lynne P reviewed: Crafts in the Valley - Beginners glass fusing workshops in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire

"Fused Glass Beginners workshop....What a fabulous fun way to spend a Sunday! Melanie was an excellent teacher, explained the processes clearly at each stage, guided us and made helpful suggestions for creating gorgeous glass decorative items and jewellery. We learnt glass cutting too - not as scary as it sounds! The whole experience was delivered in a relaxed, friendly environment, with refreshments and a delicious lunch included too. Great workshop,we made lots of lovely items to take home once they've been fired in the kiln. Can't wait to do another one! Thanks very much Melanie."

Janet Morris reviewed: 1-to-1 Mount cutting and effective presentation for painters and photographers

"An excellent course that Lynne has structured and organised down to the finest detail. Lynne is a brilliant, patient tutor attending to each student individually and inspiring us with confidence. Lynne has a wealth of knowledge and experience that she shares willingly. A thoroughly enjoyable day wherein I feel I have learnt so much about every aspect of the mount cutting process. The clear and comprehensive notes are excellent too. I would recommend this course most highly."

John and Christine Evans reviewed: Tilemaking with Richard Miller of Froyle Tiles

"Complete pottery novices were slightly worried about what to expect but the worries soon disappeared as soon as Richard began to speak.. Had a wonderful time, Richard was able to balance his time between the novices and the potterholics and turn the whole event into a fun and informative activity. Lunch was excellent as were the facilities.. definitely worth a go if you're in two minds!"

Heather Pearce reviewed: Stained glass beginners course in Bexhill-On-Sea

"I did a soldering refresher course at this studio. Roe is a great teacher and had done a pattern for me to foil and solder to make my course worthwhile. I was just expecting to come away with some scraps but instead I have a great suncatcher. Roe is calm and very patient with students. The studio is comfortable and I felt it was money well spent."

Glass Act Studio responded:

"Thank you very much Heather! X"

Wendy Arnold reviewed: Beginners Pottery Day Course

"I booked the course as a birthday present for my husband, Barry, and I went with him to observe. What a wonderful day! When we arrived we were greeted by Mathew and Rachel who are a lovely, welcoming couple. The course was wonderful. Mathew is an exceptional instructor and communicator. With Mathew's easy instruction and patience Barry was soon comfortable with the equipment and clay and within a short while was looking like a proper potter himself! He came away from the day with a feeling of great accomplishment having made three jugs and several dishes - all proudly displayed in our kitchen for family and friends to admire. If you've always had a desire to try a "bit of pot-throwing" go nowhere else. Mathew is a master craftsman and a brilliant tutor - you could do no better. Thank you Mathew for your instruction, enthusiasm and "joie de vie" - you have fulfilled a life-long ambition in the most perfect way."

Rebecca reviewed: Stained glass beginners course in Bexhill-On-Sea

"I first went to a mosaic course in January, absolutely loved it! Then booked straight away to do a stained glass course, in fact, I did 2! Roe is a wonderful teacher, she really explains and helps you through the process. It's a really nice comfortable studio, with only a couple of other people in the class so you really get lots of help. And....access to the most amazing materials because Roe has been working with glass for 20 years plus, she has the most incredible stash of glass that you can use. Cannot recommend highly enough, a good few of my friends and customers have gone on to do courses with Roe."

Glass Act Studio responded:

"What a lovely review, thank you so much Rebecca of Madame Butterfly's Tattoo Parlour! ?"
