Margaret J Barker reviewed: Beginner’s Soapmaking Workshop in Salisbury

"The day learning about and making soap last Friday was the best ever run course I have been on. The setting is glorious, the welcome warm and wonderfully perfumed; the delivery of so much interest and informative detail brilliantly presented with wonderful easy to follow handouts. Now I am really looking forward to cutting my large blocks of made soap - too delicious to use for washing at present - as drawer scents just for a while! I will always look at the ingredients on soap labels from now on - something I had not even noticed before. A huge appreciative thank you Catherine."

Julia reviewed: Pottery throwing course, Aylesbury

"I attended Charlie's workshop 6th October with a friend. It was superb! Highly recommend. Well paced with background info on preparing clay, demonstrations, explanations and of course hands on pot throwing. A very relaxed atmosphere. Lots of encouragement and lots of opportunities to start again with assistance at all stages to reinforce learning. I eventually made three pots that I am really proud of. I think I may have a talent! Can't wait to return to glaze them and collect after the final firing. I will definitely be taking this up. Well done Charlie. You have introduced me to a new interest."

Charlie's Pots responded:

"Hello Julia Many thanks for your review. You are very kind and I am glad you enjoyed the day. Your pots have now been fired and are ready to glaze, so I look forward to seeing you again soon. Thank you. Charlie"

Lorna Rimell reviewed: Beginners spoon carving course

"Thanks for a really excellent course Steve. Prior to the course, I had no experience of wood carving of any kind. I had an idea that it would be a more gentle activity than it was. There was quite a bit of axe work prior to the more delicate shaping. But it was so satisfying to see a spoon emerge from what looked like a chunk of firewood. I'm so pleased with my spoon. As a first attempt it's a bit chunky and rough around the edges but, now that I've sanded and oiled it, I can really use it. It's my little work of art. Thanks for an enjoyable day and a new set of skills."

I would really recommend this workshop."

David Hey reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"Throughly enjoyed the course, and I was very happy with the Spinning Stool that I made, my first ever wood working project. Richard and Mark give you just enough tuition so that you feel confident in what you are doing, and always have an eye open for when you start to go wrong. I would recommend this to anyone interested in wood working."

DIANA Penhallow reviewed: Ceramic sculpture for all abilities in Kent

"Having never tried my hand at creating anything in 3D form before, I have to say that each time I attend a session with Brenda Burgess - and I have now been three times - I not only enjoy it more each time but also manage to produce something I am almost proud of. The hours spent creating are precious and relaxing and exhausting all at the same time and I really cannot wait for my next course. Brenda's guidance and patience is wonderful as she gives you the confidence to attempt the impossible or that's how it feels! Thank you."

Brenda Burgess Arts responded:

"Thank you so much for the lovely review Diana. It is really kind of you. I look forward to seeing you again soon. Brenda"

Pauline Austin reviewed: Rag rug making day in the Cotswolds

"I thoroughly enjoyed this course, having wanted to try this craft for some time, but not having the confidence to start by myself. We were a small group and Jenni's relaxed, friendly demeanour made it very easy to learn the various styles of rag-rugging, giving me the confidence I needed to continue this new skill. Also the venue, The Guildhouse, Stanton, was amazing. Made the learning all the more enjoyable !"

"I enjoyed the day too. Thanks for your review Pauline and I'd be happy to put a picture of your work on my website. Keep on progging! Raggily Jenni"

Glen Mills reviewed: Tool sharpening

"Great value for the money spent. Well done to Dave and Kay for squashing a huge amount of very useful information into one day. We were introduced to many sharpening and restoring techniques on a variety of tools. I particularly appreciated the one-to-one teaching and the sociable, chatty atmosphere. I would strongly advise future participants to bring pen and paper for making lots of notes and sketches. There is a lot to take in, which can easily be forgotten. I highly recommend this course."
