Description

This is a fun relaxed workshop where you will explore the process of lino cutting and printing. A selection of spring flower themed images will be provided to inspire you or bring your own photos, downloaded images or drawings. You will start the process with selecting your image and creating your design which you will then transfer onto your piece of A6 Lino. Often people trace from photos to transfer the design, others are quite happy to draw freehand- that is completely up to you. It can also be a mixture of tracing and free drawing. You will learn how to transfer your design in negative format onto the lino, use different size tools to carve away areas and leave the image for printing. You will experiment with printing onto different papers and you will also have the opportunity of preparing 2-3 collaged backgrounds to print onto. I have a selection of tissue papers and inked papers, but if you have some interesting (non-shiny, lightweight) papers, bring them along to try out. You will learn how to print using basic techniques as well as on a traditional book printing press. The aim is that you will go home with at least 5 prints you are happy with. You will also have your lino cut so that you can print more at a later date.
