Description
Develop a linocut image, either A6 or A5 in scale. Study professional linocuts by Annette Rolston and Mike Fenton, also examples of other students prints and printmaking reference books. Try out professional cutting tools, experiment with mark-making. Use traditional grey lino and a new softer vinyl. Carve the image then print in black and white on paper through a printing press as well as learning hand printing techniques. Subsequently, print over a monoprinted background, then try over printing in colour. Print several prints in the session, fabric offcuts available as well as a selection of papers. Explore some colour inking, masking and layering techniques if time allows. No previous experience needed. Professional and friendly tuition. If you have any images that you would like to work with please bring them along, otherwise there will be images provided.
What's included in the price?
I provide 2 types of lino to try out, A6 or A5 in size, professional cutting tools, safety blocks, paper, inks, press, reference books, my linocut and other artists and students prints to study, images to trace if needed, tracing/transfer paper, pencils rulers erasers. I also provide teas, coffees and biscuits. Bring an apron. An A3 or A2 folder to take your prints home would also be very useful! There are 3 parking bays on the street outside designermakers21, otherwise there is a handy car park on Shelfanger Road a couple of minutes walk, free all day on a Sunday.
