Six evening classes, starting Thursday 20th February 2025. No prior experience necessary. Gain a firm foundation in stained glass making. The ideal gift for a crafty person! Join us at our venue in Bedford for six practical evenings all about stained glass. The course will run one evening a week for six weeks. Get to grips with the necessary skills, then apply them to make your own custom designed stained glass panel. 🎓 What to Expect: • Expert guidance from a qualified teacher and stained glass artist. • Learn the art of working with stained glass in a relaxed and friendly environment. • A beginner-friendly exploration of stained glass techniques. • Completion of your own unique stained glass project. All tools and materials are included in the course cost - no extra costs or hidden fees! This course is perfect for beginners and those with some prior experience in stained glass. Please see the course agenda and FAQ below for more detailed information. What can I make? Within reason, whatever you like! You will be taught the relevant skills to realise your vision. Some attendees come with a project in mind, others come to learn the skills and begin a new hobby. Your instructor will advise on design techniques and each attendee will benefit from an individual design consultation as part of the course cost. What to bring: Please ensure you wear clothing suitable for crafting and sensible footwear (no open toed sandals please). You will need to bring a bag to take your completed work home in. I will work with you and make every effort to ensure you complete your project within the time available. Please bear in mind, however, that completion of main projects is not guaranteed, and will depend on the complexity of the design you choose and your individual working speed. Please note that this is a fun, low-stakes educational course aimed at hobbyists. It is not a vocational course.
What's included in the price?
Week 1: Meet and Greet, Basic Skills, Leaded Week Meet your fellow attendees. Learn about various tools and gain confidence in handling and cutting glass safely. Learn appropriate soldering techniques for lead. Gain a better understanding of the leaded stained glass process by making a small practice piece to take home. Week 2: More Skills, Copper Foil (Tiffany Glass) Week Revisit the skills learned from the previous session. Build on these skills to learn more advanced cutting techniques and the use of powered tools such as glass grinders. Learn appropriate soldering techniques for coper foil. Learn about copper foil glass by making a small practice piece to take home. Discuss the benefits and drawbacks of this technique compared to leaded glass from last week. Week 3: Project Work, Design and Commencement Put into practice the skills learned from weeks 1 and 2. Finalise your design drawings and benefit from an individual design consultation to bring your vision to life. After the experiences with copper and lead in prior weeks, decide which you would like to use as your medium, and start work on your main project. Week 4: Project Work Continued Continue work on your project. Discuss advanced skills specific to lead or copper foil, as they become more relevant to your project. Week 5: Project Work Continued Week 6: Finishing Touches, Project Completion and Showcasing Learn techniques for polishing and cleaning your stained glass masterpiece. Add finishing touches and reinforcements. Troubleshoot common issues. Finalise and showcase your individual projects, and engage in group discussion/positive critique.

FAQs
Everything! All tuition, tools, glass and other supplies are included, as well as unlimited tea, coffee, biscuits and refreshments. We do not charge extra for glass and there are no hidden costs.
No prior experience is required! Our workshop is designed for all skill levels, including beginners. Our experienced instructor will guide you through each step, and we have patterns you can make which are suitable for a range of skill levels.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Please also bring your glasses if you use them for close work. Consider bringing an apron or an old shirt to protect your clothes from glass fragments. We have spare aprons with us on the day and can provide you with one if needed.
Our workshop is suitable for participants aged 16 and above. Younger participants are very welcome however, and may join if accompanied by a parent or guardian.
We provide all the necessary materials, including glass, copper foil, solder etc. We also provide all tools and safety equipment. You'll have access to a variety of glass colors and textures to create your design.
