Stained Glass- Mosaic Workshop with April Pebble!

X

Description

Learn how to make your own glass mosaic panel. We will be using scrap glass for this workshop, working glass on glass so that our panels really catch the light. The glass mosaic will be set in a picture frame; it can then be hung or stood in front of a window to show off its magnificent colours. There will be Mandala templates to pick from on the day, or you can prepare a design you would like to do beforehand. The picture frames we'll being using are 30cm x 30cm wide, so print/draw out your design to that size. This workshop will show you the basic skills involved in glass mosaic. You will learn how to cut glass using mosaic cutters and glass cutters. We will consider colour combinations/pattern and to finish, you will be shown how to grout your panel. This is a beginners course held in a learner friendly environment.

April is passionate about all techniques in glass. She became captivated by its luminosity, jewel like radiance and ability to cast shadows of colour. Her own creative practise involves traditional stained glass techniques and warm glass techniques such as fusing. Her work is inspired by nature, folkloric stories and aims to bring about beauty through light. April has recently begun teaching at her workshop at Rock Farm in Shepton Mallet. She is also a Stained Glass Conservator at Holywell Glass in Wells and up until May this year has been running therapeutic art sessions for the Charity One25. Her approach to learning is to encourage and problem solve. Being dyslexic herself she understands that repetition and clear instructions are important to help learners get the most from her workshops. Her main aim is for her students to have fun, gain some confidence in a craft and leave with something uniquely beautiful.
