Silver Jewellery Workshop - '3 Silver Rings in a Day' - a 'Quirky Workshop' nr Ullswater & the Lake District

Description

Design & make 'three Silver rings' with Sterling Silver and Semi-Precious Stones with Melinda Scarborough. Your experienced professional tutor, Melinda, will guide you through the process of designing your rings and show you how to use the workshop tools with systematic demonstrations. The new camera and screen system will be used these demos, whilst students remain safely at their desks. Once ready to start you will cut out your silver using a saw frame (each student has their own) and then shape the pieces to add texture and interest. You will learn the basic techniques of soldering, surface textures and how to get a nice professional finish to ensure that your three rings will sit together well if required. This is quite an intensive day, but by the end of it you will be able to leave with a set of 3 different rings that you yourself have designed and made. The material cost is £20 and the tutor will have more materials to buy if necessary. This course is suitable for both beginners and intermediate. Please note that start times may vary between 9.45am and 10.15 depending on the date.

Situated in a tranquil location on the fringes of the Lake District in north west England, we have been hosting a Quirky range of workshops since 2005. We are now proud to offer over 140 Arts, Craft and Heritage Skills Workshops each year, led by an incredible and talented range of local and national tutors, all experts in their field. We have two teaching studios, the 'Squirrel Barn' and the newly renovated, spacious and airy 'Swallow Barn', the latter of which, at 60m2 was very popular in the months post Covid, allowing 2m distancing, hand washing and two staircases. We have several garden teaching spaces too. Lunch (included) can be taken outside on the Tea Lawn in warmer months and teas/coffee with Aga home-baking is served at your desk. Our days are considered real treats.
