Learn pyrography - The art of drawing with fire
Description
This workshop invites participants to join sculptor Lee Borthwick for a relaxing foray into the art of pyrography, otherwise known as drawing with fire. Suitable for beginners, the workshop explores drawing and mark making using the wood burning pen and British hard woods. During the workshop we look at the range of applications for pyrography, discuss the appropriate materials to work with and create tactile natural samples. Participants also get experimental with a blow torch. The workshop concludes with students adorning their own beech presentation board to take home. Please note:- Request bookings require a minimum of three customers to go ahead.
What's included in the price?
A selection of materials to draw on, one English hardwood chopping board and a tin of wood butter. Dust masks are also provided. Students can purchase additional materials if time allows or if they want to continue at home.

Scots born, artist Lee Borthwick (MA RCA) has a signature style combining sustainably felled wood and mirror, a striking hybrid that has drawn international attention over the last decade. Lee’s approach to making has enabled her to cross the boundaries of art and craft and deliver commissions to a breadth of clients worldwide, both inside and out. The studio also produces ranges of sculptural wooden tableware with wild pyrography patterns. Last year saw Lee launch a new pyrography class.
