Description
This one day beginners pyrography course will teach you the first steps of wood burning illustration and help you to find out if it is an art that you could love. Whether you have tried it before, or have never picked up a pyrography iron, by the end of the day you will have a good knowledge of the art and you’ll feel comfortable to burn your own designs on wood. You will come away with a finished pyrography piece on sycamore wood, roughly 8 x 8”. I will have a selection of nature based designs for you to choose from, and show you how to transfer these on to wood, or you can bring your own as long as it’s 8 x 8”. You will not need to bring any materials with you, except a packed lunch. Courses run from 10AM to 4PM at Dansel Gallery, Abbotsbury.

Maker
Tilia Holmes is a UK based artist specialising in pyrography, scorching and oil painting on natural edged pieces of wood. Inspired by trees she aims to capture the abstraction of leaves, branches and dappled light whilst retaining her realism style. Her process involves hand burning her illustrations onto the wood, then adding sections of oil paint and often embellishing with metal leaf.
