2-day Stained Glass Leading Course - Design Your Own Freestanding Garden Panel - for Improvers
Description
Design and make your own garden stained glass art in just two days! Our new two-day introduction to this modern method of combining leaded stained glass with zinc construction will give you a grounding in the essential techniques, a chance to learn stained glass design essentials, and you'll take your garden panel home at the end of the course! We call this our Design & Make Your Own Stained Glass Garden Panel course - you'll create your own design (or adapt one of ours if you prefer) and learn each of the stages to result in your own weatherproof stained glass panel around 85cm tall that you can show off in your garden, or display indoors! If you've done one of our leading classes before, or completed a stained glass class elsewhere you can create a more challenging design or adapt one of ours to work from on this course. This class is suitable for those who've done some traditional leaded stained glass before. If you're a beginner we recommend you attend our one-day Beginner's Stained Glass Leading Class before joining this course. If your goal is to learn enough to make your own windows in leaded glass this is an ideal course as we'll focus on designing for strength and longevity as well as teaching you how to create a dimensionally accurate panel. Two-day beginners and Improvers garden stained glass class for up to 4 people. We'll introduce you to all the key techniques and tools used in this modern method of constructing glass art using zinc and lead. This contemporary way to create stained glass results in a panel that is stronger than a traditional leaded panel, needing no frame. We start out by looking at the essential design rules and begin to create our designs based on a template to result in a garden panel of 85x15cm approximately. Once your design is ready, you'll choose and cut your coloured glass. We'll demonstrate the skills and tools required for each stage and point out common difficulties. The key stages of this course cover: Stained Glass design Accurate glass cutting Grinding to the cartoon (your design) to ensure the pieces of glass fit correctly Cutting the zinc edges and leads to shape Soldering your panel Cementing and cleaning At the end of the course your panel is ready to take home!
