Description

In this 2.5 day blacksmithing session, up to 4 people will produce their items to their chosen design over 2.5 days. This course is more suitable for people wishing to build more complex and time-consuming projects like a gate, panels, or a fire guard for example. We will take your design idea and, with Matt, break it down into processes to bring your project to life and take your completed project home with you. You will be given an introduction to safety and use of the coke forges and tools, and then learn the basics of fire management and heating. You will be fully engaged and in charge of production, using techniques to forge completely individual, specific items. You'll be instructed and supported to learn the essential techniques of blacksmithing required to bring your piece to fruition, receiving plenty of tutor support working in a small group of up to 4. All projects are individual and made by yourself, guaranteeing your sense of accomplishment. It is best to get in touch via the 'message the tutor' button with your thoughts beforehand, and we will adjust and advise for the time frame needed. This course starts on a Wednesday morning, and ends on Friday at 1 pm, although it is expected the course will likely run over past 1 pm, and we will accommodate any last-minute help to ensure you can go home with your finished project. Accommodation can be arranged nearby if needed please get in touch for further details.
