Edna reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"Today was all about stone setting. Following on from a previous session I had prepared a Mount which just needed tidying up. Once again Lucy was able to give advice on how to do it without scratching the silver. When it came to the stone I realised why Lucy is a master crafts woman. No matter how we tried the stone wouldn’t stay in its mount. With a lot of perseverance and some methods only known to Lucy it has finally stayed put. I can’t wait for the next session to put all that I have learned together."

Carole H reviewed: Make a silver ring or bangle

"This time a new leap forward with my loop-in-loop project! After some continuation of the jump ring production line, it was time to try the weaving process. First a set of rings are stretched into a paper clip shape. It takes three of these overlapped to form a ‘star’ before they are bent into a combined intricate shape – no easy task! Thankfully, Lucy was there to show me how to do it. Another enjoyable and satisfying day. Thank you Lucy."

Shane Hallett reviewed: Bladesmithing Weekend

"Wow what can I say I have always wanted to make my own knife and I have finally achieved it. The excellent tutorage, humour and warm welcome all made the experience one I will always remember. We were taken step by step through the process which enabled us to watch the professional then start on our own knife slowly watching the knife come alive out of the metal billet we were give. You were able to go along at your own pace with someone always ready to step in and help if you needed it and even make slight changes to the design to suit you, I went for a nicely balanced knife with beautiful blue swirly handles and I. must say I am very happy with the final result. The best thing is that I can now sign up for the virtual open days and go along and start another project at my own pace using their facilities and knowledge by paying a reasonable day fee. I will definitely be back to do another soon."

Clarke Knives responded:

"Glad you enjoyed your time with us so much. We look forward to seeing you again."

Trudy Coughlan reviewed: Full day leather craft workshop

"Attended the full day leather craft workshop, together with my daughter. I wanted to use an old handbag to make other items (I made a phone bag and a tray) and my daughter made several small items. I had done the handbag making course a few years ago and really enjoyed it so this was an add-on and refresher from that. My daughter also enjoyed her day, learning new skills and using a sewing machine. Rosanna is very knowledgeable and helpful and we both came away wanting to do more!"

Daniel reviewed: 'Art your way' with Jill Jones - FULL DAY

"Before holidaying in Pembrokeshire (again!) I spoke to a friend who lives there and, knowing that I am an 'aspiring' artist (of no great note!) she suggested I consider Jill's 'Art Your Way' painting class. So, I booked a full day and can honestly say it was one of my better decisions. I would thoroughly recommend the course which will now be a regular event for me whenever I venture to West Wales!"

Jill Jones Fine Art responded:

"Hello Daniel, We shall certainly look forward to welcoming you back for another painting class, on your next holiday to Pembrokeshire! Jill"

Glynne Jones reviewed: 'Art your way' with Jill Jones - FULL DAY

"I attended the 'Art your way' course because I needed some impetus to get me back painting again! It worked! I had lost confidence in my (limited) ability as a painter but a day with Jill helped me tremendously. Her good humour and ability to impart her great artistic knowledge to others made the experience fun and, above all, instructive. I hope to be back to further improve my artistic efforts."

Jill Jones Fine Art responded:

"Glynne, Your abstract piece was stunning that you did in my class - you really should continue! Jill"

Jean Whittaker reviewed: 'Art your way' with Jill Jones - FULL DAY

"Being an enthusiastic beginner I was looking for a course to develop my passion for painting landscape and seascapes. I searched the internet and came across Jill’s site which appealed to me, even though it meant travelling quite a distance from where I live. I was not disappointed with my choice. Jill is an enthusiastic and cheerful tutor who instilled in me so much confidence that I was immediately producing paintings that I never thought I would have been able to achieve. This would not have been possible without Jill’s expert, calming and friendly influence. Jill’s teaching is first class, you learn about adding detail through simple brush work. If I had not discovered Jill’s course it is probable that I would not be painting now and enjoying my new hobby. I will certainly be returning for another four day course in 2022."

Jill Jones Fine Art responded:

"Wow! Thanks Jean! We were delighted to have you here and we look forward to seeing you soon ! xx"

Fiona reviewed: JJB Upholstery Furniture restoration + Upholstery Workshop Mondays Weekly

"RE-UPHOSTERY COURSE I had a footstool that was showing it's age & wanted to modernise to fit in with new scheme & came across JJB Upholstery who were doing sessions on re-uphostering your own furniture. Jason has been great, showing how to do things & letting you get on with it but helping out if you needed it. I had to send a photo of stool & he told me how much material I needed & how long it would take to do. I've enjoyed it so much that I've a chair that I've started on & looking around for other projects. It's satisfying to learn a new skill & to be able to re-use furniture that may go to landfill, all down to Jason"

Nicky reviewed: JJB Upholstery Furniture restoration + Upholstery Workshop Mondays Weekly

"I joined JJB upholstery course to re-upholster an old chair. Having no experience at all I have had excellent tutorship from Jason who has helped and supported me every step of the way. Jason is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable and spends a lot of time with each individual demonstrating how to do things and then letting you do the rest. I hope to be able to attend more of his classes and improve my upholstery skills even more"

jan reviewed: JJB Upholstery Furniture restoration + Upholstery Workshop Mondays Weekly

"A worthwhile and fun experience and good value for the cost. I had been hunting for an upholstery course and came across JJB who were just about to start some workshops. Shani contacted me after I had sent an enquiry and gave me all the information I wanted and kept in touch right up until the start. I booked up for 3 days but enjoyed it so much I added an extra day and worked on 2 projects instead of one (I wasn't the only one to do that either). Jason was very helpful and thorough and had high standards so I was very pleased with my finished work. I know they will be running further workshops next year so I hope to be able to go again."

"Thanks Gordon! You mastered acrylics immediately, and your drawing skills shone through! Great work, keep it up! Jill"

Ryan Scarff reviewed: Damascus knife making in Grassington

"My wife booked me on a Damascus Knife making course with Richard as a birthday present. I knew little to nothing about making a knife or blacksmithing so was a complete novice. Richard has an excellent approach to mentoring, he gives clear instructions and lets you do the work without jumping in, however If I needed help he was straight over and gave great advice drawing from what is obviously a wealth of experience. The facilities are great and has everything you would need to produce whatever you can dream of. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and can’t stop talking about it. I absolutely recommend taking a class with Richard. Thanks Richard"
