Simon Vage reviewed: Using sharp tools

"In May of 2014, myself and several others, took part in a one day introduction day on the use of knives and saws. Within the group was a mixture of abilities and experience, and yet we all left with an increased knowledge. The day was structured and informative, with chunks of information and practical giving time for learning and practising, without an overloading of information or a tiring of hand muscles which had not previously been over used. It is a course I would thoroughly recommend."

Jacqueline Bright reviewed: Pottery classes in Teesside

"I love going to this pottery class and it's the highlight of my week. The 2 hours pass too quickly. Louise is brilliant and helps with ideas and teaches you the skills of pottery, one to one, in a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere. She is always interested and encouraging in whatever project you are on with. There is a lot of equipment and different tools available to use and Louise has her own kiln for the firing. I'm so glad my friend introduced me to pottery, with Louise and her lovely Mam, Ann, at Poppy Rose!"

Simon Frost reviewed: Blacksmithing Introduction courses in Yorkshire and the North East

"Five stars all the way from me for the beginners blacksmith day. Friendly greeting on arrival with tea & coffee, homemade biscuits etc set the tone for the day. Adrian's demos made each stage of our projects look much easier than it actually was but he or his colleague Andy were never too far away to give the students advice or help as required. Everyone completed the key ring & coat rack & were proud to be taking something home. A superb lunch was a welcome break, & then tea & more cakes once we'd finished, rounded off a great day, which was hard work but great fun. I'd definitely like to come back for more once I can think of an interesting two day project & highly recommend this to anyone & everyone. Thanks to Adrian, Debbie & Andy for the day, and my wife Jackie for finding it & booking me on as a birthday gift."

Sean Floyd reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"My wife surprised me with a wonderful birthday present. I had a great day with Colin. Being a novice turner, the one on one tuition was brilliant. It gave me a lot more confidence and put me right on numerous methods. The real bonus was using a bowl gouge with the Ellsworth grind, I immediately put it on mine next day and so far its transforming my turning. I feel I have more control. The day went so quickly I was disappointed when it came to an end. Lunch was great too. Well worth the investment.. Thanks once again Colin."

Darren Poole reviewed: Creative Vibe - Glassblowing Sessions

"I was given the voucher as a present off my better half i looked on here to see what course i would like to do and after reading all the good comments left by other people i thought glass blowing that's the one. True to everyone's comments Ricky is one excellent teacher very good in the way he teaches you how to do it. If only i had teachers like him when i was at school i may have gone a bit more. On a serious note if you are thinking of doing glass blowing this is the course to do so. I will be back."

Jayne Griffiths reviewed: Beginners Hand spinning - 'From fleece to fibre’ - at All in a Spin

"Attended this course with a friend as we had been wanting to learn how to use a spinning wheel for some time. Dunja proved to be an extremely patient knowledgeable and welcoming teacher. We had the opportunity to try out various types of spinning wheel, as well as learning about fleece selection and preparation, in the glorious surroundings of Pen y Caeau farm. I would recommend this course without hesitation to anyone wanting to learn about spinning. Thank you Dunja for a most enjoyable day!!"

Rick Davidson reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"What a great day. I have a little experience in wood turning producing my own bowls and pens. Colin structured the day around my needs and ability and with the comprehensive course notes supplied I hope to retain most of the techniques. I learnt so much! Colin is a great teacher with loads of experience to be able to give practical demonstrations and techniques. He has various tools and examples of items to help clarify the most muddled of students. The advice received has saved me hundreds of pounds on buying unnecessary items so well worth the cost of the course which is very reasonable anyway. It is clear Colin enjoys teaching, he is patient and very helpful, the hours just flew by. I would not be able to recommend Colin enough whether you have never experience wood turning before and want to try something new or you want to consolidate and build on your experience. I will definitely be going back, there is so much more to learn!"

Mobeen reviewed: Knitting workshops in Leeds City Centre

"A friend and I had a 2hr session with Ann not long ago, and we went into it thinking we were going to be utter failures! Ann told us she hadn't had a failure (yet!) , and was very patient with us as she taught us how to do single, double, and treble crochets, and read crochet patterns. I have since practiced and used these skills to make little crochet projects and learn new stitches. It's a lovely bonus that the money for the session contributes to charity. Thanks, Ann!"

Angus Hammersley reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"An absolutely fantastic day. My fiancé bought me a day session with Chris for my birthday - turned up at 9 and was swinging a hammer about 10 minutes later. Chris supported and kept me challenged throughout the day. All in all we managed to finish 3 items - a key ring, knife and dragon head. Chris was patient, thoughtful and great company - he even gave me plenty of tips about how to set up my own forge. Thoroughly recommended!"

"We had such a wonderful day with Mort!! As a complete beginner I had no idea what to expect but Mort was wonderful at guiding our ideas and helped us produce an incredible fireguard which is now a real centrepiece in our living room! I am so chuffed with it - never thought we'd be able to do it (even with help!). Mort was great - patient and helpful and interesting. Thank you for such a brilliant day!"
