"Superb day in every way! This was my first visit to Lucy's and was a bit nervous but Lucy is so friendly and welcoming and her knowledge is exceptional; she is full of patience and whilst I was concentrating on my project ( a Roman blind) Lucy manages to advise / assist the other ladies but was always on hand to answer questions or help out. We all had different projects and it was great seeing other people's ideas. I managed to go home with a completed blind and the confidence to make more. We were also spoilt with lovely home cooked lunch with plenty of tea and cakes. A thoroughly relaxing day which I hope to repeat again soon."

Chris Yeardsley reviewed: 1 to 1 mount cutting for your next exhibition

"I attended Lynne's course in January 2017. My aim was to learn enough skills to mount my paintings in both acrylics and pastels in order to display them effectively. The information and and direction provided was first class and I was able by the end of the day to have completed the mounts for three paintings. In addition the environment in Lynne's studio was excellent and the working conditions comfortable and conducive for the purpose required. I now feel I have the necessary confidence to tackle any of my future needs and perhaps help friends and family if they would like a favourite photo or painting mounted."

Nick Massey reviewed: Learn to Turn in the Dartmoor National Park

"A really terrific day's instruction. I purchased a second hand Axminster lathe and desperately needed some practical advice. I've never had any experience whatsoever. A good friend recommended Chris. He had attended the one day course and was extremely positive. Chris is a real treasure. Apart from being an extremely knowledgeable, highly skilled practitioner, his ability to instruct is super. The approach and advice in terms of overall safety was exactly what I wanted since I hadn't laid hands on my lathe since purchase....being somewhat nervous that I might do something daft!! With Chris's careful instruction, I managed to create a fine sycamore bowl which will hopefully be the first of one or three. I was also given much advice and help in terms of what tools I needed and hands-on demonstration re sharpening and care. It's a lot to absorb in one day and I intend to return once I've dipped my feet into some investigation/ creation (!!) in my garage. Fabulous day and very much recommended."

Dave Austin reviewed: Woodturning in Devon with Colin Simpson

"Since my days in the school workshop (a while ago now) I have always had a desire to try my hand at turning wood so I was given a one day introductory course. Colin is not only a master of his craft but also an brilliant teacher. The day gave me all the basic techniques and tool handling skills to safely get started turning along with tool sharpening and wood finishing. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in turning. I came away inspired and with a rather nice oak bowl! Colin's courses are one-on-one and he tailors them to your needs so I shall definitely be returning to hone my skills with his excellent tuition."

"I loved this day! I'd been trying to find somewhere to start learning to weave and Dunja did a fantastic job on a complete beginner. Her approach is great - friendly, clear, calm, professional and she lets you get on with it until you make a mistake (which she always notices!). Now I just want to learn more weaving and certainly hope to learn more with Dunja. and the location is spectacular and inspiring - I certainly recommend the whole experience."

Peter Venables reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"Like the last reviewer, I turned up on a cold day to a warm welcome. Mark's attentive but non critical tuition was just what I needed as an amateur turner. Some of the practice I had got into was dangerous, some of it did not give a good finish, and a reasoned alternative was always available from Mark with the the time to practice it. I am looking forward to the getting onto my lathe and putting Mark's tuition into practice."

"Attended my first pottery workshop on Sunday as a complete beginner and loved every minute of it. The atmosphere was very welcoming and relaxed, the whole course was very well thought out, prepared and presented to give us maximum experience in the time we had. Very informative with lots of practice using different clays and techniques including throwing a pot on the wheel! Willing help if needed but not intrusive. An excellent introduction for any beginner and will wet the appetite for more!"
