Enamelled jewellery for beginners and improvers - fired glass jewellery techniques
Description
Enamelling is a wonderful craft. It is also one of the more unique things to learn in this day and age of craft experiences. Vitreous enamelling is the art of fusing glass to metal at high temperatures, using a kiln. In a one day class (approx 5 hours) you will learn the basics of enamelling, including equipment, materials and then counter-enamelling. I will then go on to teach you several techniques such as sifting, wet packing, applying media. This price is for 1 to 1 but if you want to come with someone else, get in touch and I will give you a reduced price per person - usually around £110 per person instead of £145. It is great for jewellery makers and art lovers as you can create unique art to wear or hang on the wall. Just look at some of the masterpieces at the V&A to see how compelling this artform is. If you've been to a class before or would like to build on existing skills I can also teach additional techniques such as as wire work and cloisonné, swirling and grisaille, or even firing onto fine silver. COST My home workshop only fits up to 3 people, which means any course booked will not be cancelled due to low numbers. The course price shown is for ONE to ONE classes. (If another person wants to book the same date as you, I will get in touch to discuss this.) If you are booking for 2/3 people the course fee will be reduced per person (usually by around 30%) so please get in touch for me to organise this for you. Class runs from 10 – 3pm. Classes take place in Colchester, Essex. All materials included but please bring your lunch.

FAQs
Colchester is in North Essex and roughly an hour by train from London.
Sorry no. In order to keep costs down I ask that students bring their own lunch, it also helps to keep the stress levels down when working out what people are able to eat. I do supply tea, coffee and biscuits though.
Age need not be a barrier, however much of the equipment I use is not suitable for primary-aged children. I do ask you to vouch for any young person who comes in terms of how they will work with potentially dangerous tools. You can always book to come together.
I do have a garden workshop, which is on ground floor level but can be cold at times. If you have any accessibility needs, do get in touch and I will do my best to accommodate you - that might be running the workshop in my house instead of the garden workshop, running a class online, or even coming to you (in order, to make this viable it works best if you have a couple of friends who'd like to join in too.)
Yes, my road is not a busy one, so you can usually park on the road outside, or even on my drive, if we remember to move our car over.
Yes I do. Please get in touch and I will confirm the price per person for 2 or more people. Usually, the price goes from £145 for 1 to 1 to around £125 per person.
