Paul Gasson reviewed: Wood turning courses in the Midlands

"I have been turning for 25 years on and off self taught in my shed. Never had a chance to do a course because of the job i did but i retired last year wife gave me a day with Mark as a christmas present. Mark gave me a lot of good advice on what to buy and what not to buy. He also showed me where i was going wrong with a lot of the bad habits i had to taught my self. I will definitely go back for some more tuition when i have tryed to put into practice some of the things i was shown"

Holly Lanigan reviewed: Fabulous felt picture 2 day masterclass near York

"I really enjoyed the course and learnt lots of new skills and techniques! The only feedback i would give is that people were often waiting for pointers on what to do next as everyone was at different stages of completion. However there were often techniques that most/all of us needed to use at some point so might have been better to get everyone to gather round and watch how to do it. Then they wouldnt have to wait to be told what to do when they got round to that new technique."

Bridget Bernadette Karn Studio/Shop responded:

"Thank you Holly, yes as you say there is a lot to be gained from seeing what everyone is doing, I will aim to encourage this more. I'm glad you enjoyed the experience."

Charlotte Gowers reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"The setting was beautiful and i really liked the atmosphere and environment sebastien had created. He held the group very well and was attentive offering suggestions, tidying and ensuring we were comfortable working on our plinths. He created an inclusive laid back environment and it was relaxing to sit by the fire in a circle and have our breaks. The only thing i would have liked would have been more guidance on techniques. His teaching was very fluid and we just got on with our work but it may have been helpful for the first bit to have a more structured tutorial on technique. . It was a good course and we learned through the experiential . good value for money. Sebastien was kind and thoughtful and created a harmonious relaxed atmosphere. Which was a lovely way to spend a wet weekend in January . Thank you"

Brian Morrison reviewed: Mosaic workshop at Jackie Nash Art

"My daughter and I recently attended to one of Jackie's mosaic courses and both of us really loved it. Neither of us had any experience, however this was not an issue. We were guided, instructed, assisted and encouraged without undue pressure to produce a work of our own making. This was not the only delight, as the host was lovely, very welcoming and enjoyable company throughout and refreshments including banana cake were also forthcoming. With the surroundings, facilities and the congenial atmosphere, what is there not to like! Whilst we came as a pair, I cannot believe that as an individual or indeed a group, that the experience would be any less. Can wholeheartedly recommend the experience and you can come out with your own unique piece. Suggest you have a go, you will love it."

Bev Speak reviewed: Crafts in the Valley - Felted Pictures Workshop in Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire

"I really enjoyed this workshop. Mel explained everything clearly and took the time to speak to all the participants offering advice and suggestions. There were drinks and pastries/biscuits accessible at all times and the lunch at a local cafe was very pleasant, followed by afternoon snack of chocolate cake with fresh strawberries. Lovely. Throughout the day Mel made sure that we were all happy with her instructions, and was on hand to make sure we understood what we were doing, and why. We all came away proudly clutching our own pieces of art."

Zach Zetie reviewed: Weekend introductory blacksmithing course 'B' at Quinnell School of Blacksmithing

"This was my second course, building on a previous one, so I wanted to use more techniques. Experienced teachers who knew how to help and also helped me design and make a piece (belt buckle) which is much admired. Very decent facilities, day was a good length, with frequent tea and biscuit breaks to give the old biceps a break! I have already booked onto my next course and am looking forward to it."

Fiona reviewed: Wet felting / needle felting workshop: Private session with Zenia from The Lady Moth

"Spent a really memorable and wonderful afternoon with Zenia - I got to choose to make a robin. She was a fantastic teacher - very clear and helpful and informative and organised. I was really delighted with my end result and am inspired to do more. Thoroughly recommend either private tuition or her many courses which look great fun - I personally loved having one-one help with the private tuition. Her communication before hand was excellent, and she was so friendly and welcoming when I met her. I also loved seeing all her gorgeous creations and hearing about how she made them."

The Lady Moth responded:

"Thank you very much:)"

Jim reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"Really enjoyed the weekend and surprised myself with my sculpture as I'm not very "arty". Tuition was informal, adopting a get stuck in and call if you need help, which suited me. Would recommend it, and I intend to have a go at another lump of stone at home."

Joanna Bellis reviewed: Beginner’s Soapmaking Workshop in Salisbury

"The second of Catherine's courses I've taken - this could become a habit! A really fascinating day mixing science with creativity to make your own bespoke soaps under expert guidance. Catherine has the skill to strike just the right balance between providing training in the process whilst making it fun. In an age of mass-produced everything, how refreshing it is to make something yourself - I can't wait to try out my handiwork."

Debby Robinson reviewed: Make a bra and knickers set

"An amazing course. Who would have guessed? We all left with real, wearable bespoke lingerie that we'd made ourselves! Eat your heart out M&S. Also left several pounds heavier after the scrumptious homemade goodies which kept us going all weekend. Thank you Helen but more pickled onions & fewer chocolate brownies next time please..."

Rob Coombs reviewed: Beginner’s Soapmaking Workshop in Salisbury

"What a fantastic day. Was not sure what to expect when I booked this as a birthday gift for my wife. In the lovely peaceful, rural setting at Holten Lee it exceeded all our expectations. Catherine took us through the soap making process and provided a comprehensive leaflet should anything be forgotten later. We made two soap recipes, the first with Catherine leading us, step by step and the second recipe she allowed us more independence. We left feeling excited and fulfilled. We enjoyed Catherine's friendly teaching style, all equipment was provided and we both feel confident enough to have a go at home. Great value. Thank you Catherine."

Debbie Harding reviewed: Stonecarving Weekend, Gloucestershire Cotswolds

"I was on the 2 day course. Sebastian was friendly and made everyone feel at ease. We began with a brief introduction about stone carving and the tools we would be using, and then were given a piece of stone to practise upon, which was really helpful. Once we felt ready, we were given our piece of stone and started our creations. Sebastian was really helpful. He gave good, clear advice and was always ready to give guidance when it was needed but allowed you to 'do your own thing'. It's helpful to have a picture or sketch of what you want to make, but there is a book you can use for inspiration if you haven't come with a plan. I absolutely loved my time stone carving and will definitely be back again. Everyone one on the course had a lovely creation at the end of the weekend. Can't recommend highly enough!"
