Kit Anderson reviewed: Plaster mould making for slip cast ceramics with Ed Bentley

"If you want to develop your ideas Ed is your man!! On the strength of my previous experience of doing training with Ed , I returned to do two days tuition on the plaster lathe. As before, his excellent knowledge and understanding of the craft is an absolute godsend and it's great to work with someone who really can assist you and support the development of new work. I was able to turn three new shapes and make the block moulds ready for making the 'Case'- Great fun and more than happy to work at my pace!!"

sammy reviewed: Creative Vibe - Glassblowing Sessions

"I got this for me and my partner. We have a pretty full on life with many hobbies but quite often do something a bit different to mix it up a bit and even with this, my partner described this as the 'best day out he's EVER had.' Ricky was great at guiding us through and we got through so much during the day."

Kate Gwatkin reviewed: Weaving peaframes and hurdles at Usk Castle Chase

"My husband and I both thoroughly enjoyed the willow pea frame and hurdle course. Brilliant day. Fantastic venue at Usk Castle. Came back to do the basket weaving course later in the year. Would recommend to anyone. Makes a fantastic present. Amanda is a great teacher. Keeping the numbers on the course small means we all get to make the perfect hurdle and pea frame. Which have stood in my garden all year. Her daughters homemade cake was delicious too!"

Hugh reviewed: Willow skep hive (Alveari) making - with Bees for Development

"I really enjoyed the day. The pace of the day was good, plenty of coffee/biscuits, and lovely food in the Yew Tree Inn for lunch. All the participants were friendly and encouraging. Chris was very helpful and supportive, giving plenty of advice, and “nudging” my work back into shape on several occasions! I was very pleased to leave with a skep - maybe not perfectly circular, but nonetheless a perfect home for bees, serendipitously about 40 litres in volume. We were given the option between two types of skep - given the option again, as a novice, I think I would choose to make the simpler design out of the two offered, to end up with a better quality finish. I hope to utilise the skills learned on the day in the future."

Sarah Calvert reviewed: Ceramic Studio Experience - Sunday Clay Day - Full Day Tutor Interactive Workshop

"L❤VED IT! Both Geri & Sue were both extremely knowledgable and great at explaining things in layman terms. I learnt loads and 'created' quite a bit too. We over ran by an hour as we were so enthused but we felt no pressure to leave. 10/10 for enjoyment, education and value for money. I will definitely return at some point to do more and, can highly recommend this day particularly, if spent with friends plus, there's a great farm-shop next door for a tasty picnic lunch."

Corinne Knight reviewed: Mosaic workshop at Jackie Nash Art

"I took my friend to one of Jackie's day mosaic courses and what a wonderful day we had. Jackie is a gifted teacher and very warm and friendly. Not only did we achieve a mosaic on the day, we learnt such a lot without even realising how much we had taken in. The studio is amazing with examples of the exquisite work done by Jackie and also of the beautiful work done by her students. I cannot recommend Jackie enough for the care, attention and fun we had that day, together with an endless supply of tea and coffee and, of course, the most delicious cake. Thank you Jackie, for a day to remember Col x"

Donna Ford reviewed: Lino printmaking in the Dales

"Very much enjoyed the mono print and dry point etching workshop run by Penny who was very informative . I produced a number of prints from my dry point etching and was rather pleased with myself with the finished results. The mono print is a technique I am able to do at home and intend to do so. This is the second workshop I have attended, the first was ceramics hand build ,thoroughly enjoyable too."

Simon. reviewed: One day welding course: an introduction

"An excellent and informative day spent with Julian. You can't go wrong kicking off with a brew and a general chat about welding. We then went through some general welding theory explained in a simple and concise manner for a beginner like myself. Next it was onto the practical side of things. Covering all the common joints and techniques. Julian's teaching technique is great. Explaining what needs to be done and why. A short demonstration, then it's your go with plenty of time to practice, with encouragement and feedback as you go. Julian obviously knows his stuff and has a knack of being able to to get it across in a calm, relaxed and jovial manner. The day just flew by so I'll be back for the blacksmithing course later in the year."

Stephen Jones reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"DO THIS COURSE! From the moment I arrived I was made to feel welcome and the setting for this course is a wood turners dream. Evidence of Graham's ability and passion for the subject is everywhere, from his own pieces on display to the treasure trove of wood happily seasoning; you feel like you are in the right place to learn this art. I shared the day with only one other student and we each had our own lathe for the day. The machine was in excellent condition as were all the tools and safety equipment provided. This was my first attempt at turning and safety was paramount but we were trusted to use and operate the machines after suitable instruction and guidance. Graham provided excellent tuition on the use of common tools and methods of turning. I was so pleased to have a go at both spindle and bowl turning and take home my first work pieces. Graham was able to answer all questions and even helped my fellow student with some tools & lathe parts he brought with him. He could not do more to help us both and put us on the right track to be turners. Not to forget his lovely wife who made us feel welcome in their home and the bottomless coffee pot! Thank you, Graham!"

Graham Turner Woodturning responded:

"We aim to please, many thanks for this fantastic review !!!!!"
