Marc Jordan reviewed: A Dry Stone Walling Workshop Bedfordshire

"Clear, practical and friendly. Pleasing to have contributed to an enduring project rather than a sample wall that would be dismantled."

London School of Dry Stone Walling responded:

"Hello Marc – Thank you for your feedback. I valued your input and your contribution will stay put, that was no sample !! As you said at the time, the workshop experience sheds more insight and understanding into the skill and craft heritage of previous generations."

Angela & Scott reviewed: Blacksmithing for Beginners - Full Day Forging for One

"We had a day with Chris at his forge recently. We didn't know what to expect and we were not disappointed. Complete beginners but we came away with a keyring each and a team effort created a heart. Chris is patient, knowledgeable and happy to talk about his craft and answer any questions. We had a fantastic day and it has sparked an interest. Would love to do another one at some point in the future"

John Cadman reviewed: 'Art of Stained Glass' - Oldbury, Birmingham

"I attended the leading course with Jamal and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Jamal has an excellent teaching manner, having endless patience and a good sense of humour. As a teacher myself, it was clear to me that he has carefully thought through the content of the session, beginning with a brief introductory talk on the history of the craft and then steadily progressing through each stage of the process. He clearly has tremendous talent in terms of both dexterity and aesthetic appreciation, and has a deep passion for his art. Thank you Jamal."

The location is beautiful and the workshop well equipped. Not only did I come away with I bench I'm really proud of thanks to Peter, but this was also the most chilled out week I've had in ages. Annie Connolly reviewed: Furniture Painting Workshop in the Cotswolds

"Chris and Celia are really generous with sharing their knowledge and their skill. I was really lucky because I was the only attendee so that meant I could have their undivided attention! I took along an Ercol chair that I want to restore. They taught me how to clean it and rub it down and take the varnish off and then gave me a list of instructions as to how to continue the project at home. There simply isn't enough time to complete such a big project on one day but they got me off to to a cracking start and filled me with confidence and know how. I enjoyed the painting lesson on chair spindles and I had no idea that stencilling and gilt work could be so effective. Lovely people who care about doing the job properly and imparting their wisdom with kindly guidance. I especially like that they were flexible with the day and taught me what I was interested in. Thank you so much."

Hanna reviewed: Furniture Painting Workshop in the Cotswolds

"Hello Celia and Chris The course with you was rewarding and helpful. I learnt new techniques, new approaches, about material like brushes which one to use and how. You had samples ready to show me the techniques and I tried myself. You showed me stenciling and moulds which is new to me and very intriguing. It was beneficial to meet with you, thank you very much for your inputs, it's mostly appreciated. Kind regards, Hanna"

James Steele reviewed: Five day woodwork course - tools

"My wife bought places on this course as a present for me and one of our sons. I hadn't done any wood work since school but had talked about trying it again for years - without actually doing anything about it. The course was fantastic. Richard and Mark are true craftsmen with an obvious and infectious enthusiasm for their work. They put the students at ease from the word go and within a matter of minutes we were starting to turn the timber on our benches into beautiful pieces of furniture. Throughout, instruction, guidance and assistance were available in a constructive, easy-going and very patient manner. Each lunchtime, Richard gave one or two informal lectures on various tool-related aspects of wood work which were tremendously helpful and there was also the opportunity to gain experience in techniques not directly related to the chosen project. The week flew by and at the end each of us left with a finished work that none of us, I think, would have felt was within our grasp at the start of the course. I heartily endorse all the positive comments from previous reviewers and would love to attend the second course. Thank you."

Keith Richardson reviewed: Wood turning tuition, New Forest, Hampshire (1 day) (2 people)

"A hugely enjoyable day spent being creative and constructive. Graham is a very good and patient teacher with a good abilities to explain and demonstrate. I attended with my father and we both came away with wooden objects more advanced than we were expecting to, a bowl each. This was our first time wood turning and the bowl making process was broken down and explained more or less from tree to table. The equipment available was of excellent quality and clearly well maintained. Graham took care of tool sharpening whenever necessary and kept a careful eye on safety at all times. On our day, which was warm and sunny, tea, coffee and lunch was served outside in the delightful garden with occasional visits by one of the amiable resident dogs. As an introduction to wood turning I highly recommend this course. Thank you Graham. Keith and Brian."

Penny Hearn reviewed: The Whole Table Loom Set Up - Dobby & Rose

"I loved this course ! Rebecca is a calm and competent tutor who clearly explained each step of the processes before setting us to work. I had tried a bit of weaving in the past, learning from books, but it quickly became clear that a real-life teacher is a MUCH more effective way of learning. Rebecca's studio is in a very peaceful part of the Surrey countryside and after two days in the studio I left feeling relaxed and very pleased with the piece of fabric I had produced. I'd love to go back and would highly recommend."
