Monika Skinner reviewed: One day silver clay course at Gallery in Heswall, Wirral

"We had a really lovely day on Thursday. Georgina explained the process of using silver clay and paste very well. After that, we were able to design and create our own pieces whilst Georgina was always on hand for help and guidance. The magic happened when after firing our pieces came out of the kiln and we were starting to polish them. I personally made three pieces, one statement pendant in the shape of an ivy leaf using silver paste and two smaller ones using silver clay. All I can say is that the course was very enjoyable and very good value for money! Highly recommended!"

Richard reviewed: Make a live-edge bench or table

"Ben is a great teacher and he guides you through building a bench from scratch. We all worked at different speeds but he made sure we were all involved and knew what we were doing. And the bench at the end was a great addition to my dining room."

Chris reviewed: Bronze Smelting and Casting

"I went on the course because I wanted to understand the processes behind smelting and casting. It's given me a much greater appreciation of the amount of effort and patience that went into creating Bronze Age objects. Roger was really knowledgeable and I appreciated the way he encouraged us to just get on with it, while guiding us with each stage. I came away feeling that I'll never look at a metal object in a museum in the same way again."

James Meakins reviewed: Photography Days

"I have just completed 5 very enjoyable and informative days with Sue and Richard. Was part of a birthday present to myself and was lucky enough to have one to one tuition in very relaxed and welcoming surroundings. The thing i liked best was the pace and flexibility of the week . Both were enthusiastic about their craft and keen to share their knowledge and experiences . Both showed a very personal touch to ensure you really understood your camera and what you could achieve with it. The highlights were the trips out to see some outstanding Cumbrian scenery and how to get the best results to portray it . I would highly recommend the course but would suggest that if you had limited knowledge of photography ,like I did ,that you take the multiple days options . Thankyou again for a brilliant week ."

Art by Camera responded:

"Thanks, James. It was great having you with us for the week, I'm just sorry we had no control over the November weather! At least there was plenty to keep us dry and occupied. Having said that, the winter months are so good for landscape photography with the sculptural look to bare trees and the starkness of snow. Have fun with your new skills."

"Had a fantastic day, made a couple of really impressive items. Jason the blacksmith was very informative and helpful, particularly as my weedy arms started to give up after 4 hours of hard hammering! I have a new appreciation of iron mongers and the skill they have. Can definitely recommend this course if you fancy an unusual fun day"

Naomi Waterman reviewed: Wood turning courses

"My husband gifted me a craft course voucher and I selected a day course for 2 with George on the merit of the previous reviews for the course and it did not disappoint. We had a great day and went home with beautiful turned sycamore bowls that we are really proud of. George’s relaxed and friendly teaching style had us confidently working away at creating our bowls in no time. The day was a really great mix of learning the science of wood and the turning process, and the creativity of reading the form, deciding how far to take a cut and how to create an aesthetically pleasing shape! Special thanks to Sue who made us feel warmly welcomed and looked after with a delicious home made lunch and plenty of biscuits!"

"Great course. Roger, the tutor, was a wealth of information and a great communicator. When we went outside he showed the way to extract the copper from the ore and turn it into metal. Then we loaded up the larger crucibles and went for the bigger casts. It was a great day with good people in a fantastic environment."

Candice Majewski reviewed: Blacksmithing Beginners course - 1 to 1

"This was a brilliant day! My husband and I booked it as something fun to do for a one-off, but we're already thinking about when we can come back. The instructors were clearly super-knowledgable and explained everything in a really easy to follow way. By lunchtime we'd already each made a really professional-looking hook, which was great. I'd recommend this to anyone - the course does cost a fair bit, but it's *really* worth it!"

Emma Hindley reviewed: One to one pottery throwing class in Worksop

"My friend and I went to try out pottery as a new experience. Harriet was so lovely - good demonstration, great instructions, and a little bit of assistance when things were on a wonk. We had a lot of fun and also made a couple of great pieces that can be used when home - a super memory of our fun time. I'd love to go back for another go and would thoroughly recommend."
