Description
Wet felting is based on an ancient craft with a modern twist. Learn the basics by creating a decorative picture using wool roving or combed wool fibres. You will explore various techniques such as using pre-felts, silk fibres, yarns and scraps of chiffon and silk fabrics for design effects. Using just water, a little soap and lots of rubbing and agitation, watch the wool fibres transform magically into your own piece of textile art. All materials and equipment will be provided, together with lots of tea, coffee and homemade cake. You are welcome to bring along your own inspirational images and any scraps of silk fabric or decorative yarn you would like to use. Please also bring two hand towels and an apron, to avoid your clothes getting too wet! This workshop is suitable for both total beginners and those with a little prior experience in wet felting. The class will be led by Suzanne Strachan, experienced felt maker and designer. “a really enjoyable activity – a brilliant use of a Sunday morning” “I love the way you can use the colour and texture to make amazing designs with very little artistic training”
