Whole day, wet felted landscape workshop with Claire Priestley of Teesdale Felt at the Hearth Horsley
Description
This full day workshop, run by felt artist Claire Priestley (member of Network Artists North East and the International Feltmakers Association) is suitable for complete beginners or those wishing to refine their felting skills. During the day, you will use a variety of traditional felting tools to create a landscape using soft Merino wool and add detail using mulberry and sari silks, Angelina fibres, nepps and curly locks. When your work is dry you will then use needle felting techniques, embellishment and embroidery to add detail. Throughout the day you will be given advice and encouraged to use your own creativity to produce a piece of artwork which is unique and something to be proud of. Light refreshments are included. Please bring a packed lunch or you can order lunch from the onsite café.

Maker
I am passionate about felting and enjoy experimenting with new ideas and techniques. Wool is an incredibly versatile material which makes it perfect for 3D felting. I particularly enjoy creating landscapes and incorporate mixed fibres to add texture and interest. I am also interested in Shibori techniques and run courses in the community. I live in Teesdale, Co. Durham and much of my artwork is inspired by its beautiful landscape.
