Weekly silverclay workshop in Newcastle upon Tyne
Description
6 weeks (3 hours every week on Tuesdays) Daytime and evening workshops. Please see our website for a full schedule of the course dates and to book your place. In this creative and social environment you will learn new skills, stretch your creative boundaries and try different techniques with like-minded people around you. Places are limited to 4 students ensuring plenty of access to tools and tutor guidance. This course is suitable for beginners and those already familiar with some jewellery making techniques. Every student works on their own projects and at their own pace during which individual tuition given to every student. You will be able to work on your pieces continuously week by week. For less than £20 a week you will get together with like minded people and use your creativity to relax. And in the meantime, you will get help and support from your instructor to make lovely jewellery. This is also a great opportunity make some lovely Christmas presents for loved ones without the stress of the high street. You will create one of a kind, unique and individual gifts. These sessions are friendly, supportive, professional and fun, enabling you to gain knowledge, skill and confidence in a relaxed atmosphere. All courses are held in a dedicated studio at the Biscuit Box Studios- a studio complex next to the Biscuit Factory in the heart of the cultural quarter of Newcastle.
What's included in the price?
The price includes tuition fee, use of all tools and equipment, tea, coffee, water. The cost of this course does not include materials. The studio is well equipped with tools but feel free to bring your own if you wish, but make sure your tools are clearly labelled as yours. You will be able to kiln fire some of the bigger items, and tumble polish your finished jewellery. It is a good idea to bring an apron, sketchbook, a container to carry your unfinished and finished items etc. For safety reasons it is also always advisable to wear closed toe shoes and longs hair should also be tied back when working with the firing equipment. A good stock of Art Clay Silver, chains, findings and fireable stones are available to purchase for a discounted price during the class. However you can bring your supplies as well but please label your supplies and tools as yours. Please get in touch for more details and to book your place.

Emine is a designer-maker of contemporary jewellery. She lives in Whitley Bay and works from her studio at the Biscuit Box Studios in Newcastle upon Tyne. Her work often explores amalgamation of materials and techniques to achieve harmonious wearable objects. She combines traditional silversmithing techniques with metal clay techniques. She shares her love of creating jewellery with others in her silver clay workshops within her studio and at six other galleries across North East.
