Jewellery making with silver clay - one day beginners workshop

This workshop is aimed at those with no little or no experience of working with silver clay. After this workshop you will have the knowledge and skills to be able to create your own designs in the comfort of your own home. Join us on our one day beginners workshop to learn the fundamentals of creating your own beautiful solid silver jewellery. Silver clay is made up of very fine particles of recycled pure silver, water and a non toxic binder. When your piece is fired, the binder burns away, leaving you with solid fine silver. The process is truly magical. Art Clay fine (99.9%) silver will be used during this workshop. Guided by your instructor you’ll make approximately three / four pieces of solid silver jewellery. The number of pieces you make will be dependant upon the size you make your pieces. What you choose to make (charms/pendants/earrings) is entirely up to you. Please note that ring making will not be covered during this workshop. You will have access to all our different textures, texture mats, moulds and shapes, to create wonderful, unique pieces of jewellery. You will also be able to include a gem stone or two should you wish. You will learn the process of making jewellery with silver clay from start to finish. The first part of the day focusing upon how to handle, roll, shape and texture it, before drying and refining. The second part of the day will focus upon torch firing, polishing and learning how to patina. Your jewellery will be ready to take home with you on the day! How have our workshops changed due to COVID-19? • You will be required to sanitise your hands upon arrival, sanitiser will be available all through the day for you to sanitise your hands regularly • You will be required to wear a face mask/face covering for the duration of the workshop. You can either bring your own or we can provide you with one • We are unable to supply drinks and biscuits, until further notice, so ask that you bring your own with you. • All tools are sanitised between workshops. You will have your own tools set out in front of your for the workshop, however, there are some tools that you will be required to share, these of course will be sanitized by your instructor between use • There will be a maximum of six students per workshop at our Hinckley workshops Full details in regards to how the workshop will work will be emailed to you following booking. Full payment is due upon booking If you have a particular design/s in mind, please do let us know ahead of the workshop, so we can discuss and plan the workshop to suite your needs. Workshops available on weekends. Each workshop will last six hours. Please use the "message the tutor" button to enquire about the availability of spaces and to book your place. You may get a little dusty, so ensure that you wear old clothes or bring an overall. Please don't wear open toed shoes or sandals. Please note that we can run these workshops on additional dates, weekdays, evenings and weekends. Please get in touch to discuss other available dates. The workshop cost of £135 includes silver clay, use of tools on the day, sterling silver jump rings / earrings wires, and up to two fireable gem stones. Please bring a packed lunched with you.
