Make silver jewellery using precious metal clay or silver clay
Description
Learn how to make fine silver jewellery The easier and more accessible way to create hallmarkable silver jewellery. I offer day courses in silver Clay. Silver clay is made from silver particles suspended in a binder which once sculpted and fired burns away to leave pure/fine silver (99%). If you'd like to come with someone else the cost per person is reduced, so do get in touch (usually goes from £145 to approximately £110 per person including silver). You can create beautiful silver jewellery easily in one session. As the clay is so versatile you will very quickly be creating your own designs. Covered in the lesson are: Types of clay Planning your design Making prototypes Getting the best from your silver clay Finishing 3 different ways to fire Final polishing The Silver clay can be fired in a number of ways (depending on the size of the project) and I will cover these in the course. You can even make rings with it, again let me know if you are interested in this as the cost varies depending on supplies needed, Please note these prices include at least £30 worth of resouces (10g of metal clay and paste). COST My home workshop only fits up to 3 people, which means any course booked will not be cancelled due to low numbers. The course price shown is for ONE to ONE classes. (If another person wants to book the same date as you, I will get in touch to discuss this.) If you are booking for 2/3 people the course fee will be reduced per person (usually by around 30%) so please get in touch for me to organise this for you. Class runs from 10 – 3pm. Classes take place in Colchester, Essex. All materials included but please bring your lunch.

FAQs
Colchester is in North Essex and roughly an hour by train from London.
Sorry no. In order to keep costs down I ask that students bring their own lunch, it also helps to keep the stress levels down when working out what people are able to eat. I do supply tea, coffee and biscuits though.
Age need not be a barrier, however much of the equipment I use is not suitable for primary-aged children. I do ask you to vouch for any young person who comes in terms of how they will work with potentially dangerous tools. You can always book to come together.
I do have a garden workshop, which is on ground floor level but can be cold at times. If you have any accessibility needs, do get in touch and I will do my best to accommodate you - that might be running the workshop in my house instead of the garden workshop, running a class online, or even coming to you (in order, to make this viable it works best if you have a couple of friends who'd like to join in too.)
Yes, my road is not a busy one, so you can usually park on the road outside, or even on my drive, if we remember to move our car over.
Yes I do. Please get in touch and I will confirm the price per person for 2 or more people. Usually, the price goes from £145 for 1 to 1 to around £125 per person.
