Description
In this really relaxing and playful session, co-founder of Where Inspiration Blooms and avid textiler, Jules Cossins, will be encouraging you to play with embroidery. This will not be a 'formal' class, where everyone will be creating the same pattern or learning set stitches, instead everyone will be encouraged to find their own style and inspiration, from which Jules will help them translate that onto fabric through the power of stitch!!! (Loving that... the power of stitch!!) This will be a really gentle class...Jules will supply a wide selection of different base fabrics, needles, some bamboo hoops and a lot of threads...embroidery and others (she's a bit of a hoarder!). We may dig out the odd sequin or ribbon for quirky embellishments too. There will be no rules other than to enjoy the time in which to do your own thing! An experienced embroiderer, Jules will introduce you to several different techniques for transferring a design of your choice onto different fabrics, and then teach you a handful of really simple and effective stitches to bring your piece to life. It's a lot to expect you to complete a piece in a single workshop, so you will be given the opportunity to take the materials you need to complete your piece home with you at the end of the class. You are welcome to bring your own design ideas and inspirations, or we will have a plentiful supply for you! (Jules has plenty of books and reference materials).
What's included in the price?
All materials will be provided and this workshop will be suitable for absolute beginners as well as anyone who used to sew but hasn't picked up a needle in a while.
