Monday (Weekly) Bobbin Lace Making - Evening Mixed Lace Classes (Effingham, Surrey).
Description
To be able to learn to make lace and to progress, it is essential that you can understand, speak, and read English fluently, otherwise you will struggle to even get beyond the basics of the craft. This is a regular course which runs on the same day & time every Monday Evening during term time, subject to other commitments. The price quoted is for a one-off session as term duration vary. Tina wishes to offer regular evening sessions, to students (whether; Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced), where this would suit them better than a day-time class and the chance to work along side each other to create a Traditional or Modern piece of lace. The sessions will run on the same day & time every week during term time, and can run to meet the needs of those that work during the week and have weekend commitments and can also be tailored to individual requirements such as that of problem solving & technique clarification, for those who have a good lace making experience. It can cover problem solving on your current project, to needing help with beginning a new piece of lace, or even to provide a technique refresh. The purpose is to ensure that lacemakers can continue to progress between classes & workshops. Being creative is a good way to relax at the same time as stretching your cognitive skills. Tina's students often say how therapeutic lace making can be, she herself finds it a great way to relax and forget all about her worries. Beginners will be guided through the preparation & basic techniques of lace making, with a view to moving onto simple projects once you feel confident. Tina has equipment that can be borrowed before you buy your own, so that you can decide what suits you. You will practise your basic stitches both in class and given next steps to practise at home before the next session. You will also be able to see what others are making and gain inspiration, for later on in your lace making ventures. Intermediates & Advanced Students can either come along with a current project, or why not try one of the following laces that Tina is offering to teach:- Binche, Bedfordshire, Chrysanthemum, Flanders, Honiton, Idrija, Milanese, Russian, & Torchon. Tina can also provide good detailed guidance to those wishing to start;- Buckspoint, Hinojosa, & Duchesse/Withof. Tina will offer displays of her work, and encourages students to bring in examples they have worked or collected; in not only lace but other crafts too. If you have any questions please do get in touch.
