Five week course starting on Thursday 13th March until 10th April. Explore the art of watercolour calligraphy, combining two creative forms of expression. The course starts with the basics—learning brush techniques, understanding watercolour flow, and practising various calligraphy styles. As you progress, you’ll learn how to blend vibrant colours with elegant calligraphy strokes, creating letters that stand out. This course goes beyond technique, encouraging creativity and self-expression. You’ll explore different ways to add colour to your brush lettering, including blending, ombré effects, varying transparency, creating delicate floral decorations to add to your work and turn those into borders—all using a simple paintbrush. Week 1: The Foundations of Brush Calligraphy and controlling the brush. An introduction to creating letters with a water brush and paintbrush. How hard to press and where to change the pressure. Week 2: Understanding alphabets and how to alter the style of your lettering. Week 3: Mixing your colours, colour terms, experiments and using colour effectively. Week 4: Create beautiful loose watercolour florals to decorate your work. Combining calligraphy and Illustration. Creating borders and decorations. Week 5: Constructing a Wreath and composing a finished piece, sketches and stages of a design.
What's included in the price?
Your full kit ticket will include a Van Gogh watercolour palette of 15 pans, a water-brush, a pipette, 2 watercolour paintbrushes, Goldline watercolour paper and Langton Prestige watercolour paper, along with the worksheets.
