Description
Tutors: Lead Calligrapher Maisie Minett and Jill Hembling (MD of The Modern Calligraphy Company) If you are a self-taught modern calligrapher, this course will give you the opportunity to discuss and review your working methods and check that you are working in the most efficient way, in order to succeed in this environment. This course will also be looking to identify calligraphers with the ability to join The Modern Calligraphy Co. team as a freelance associate calligrapher. As such you will be considered for opportunities at prestigious live events for world-renowned luxury brands. Places are limited, so book now to avoid disappointment. Our Masterclass in pointed nib calligraphy is for enthusiastic amateurs and professional calligraphers who wish to be trained to do ‘live’ event work in the luxury brand market. This masterclass draws on our 25 years of experience in the business, giving you invaluable insight into this high-profile, fast-paced, and prestigious world. Week 1 Maisie will look at how to vary your style to meet your clients' brief and deliver ‘product perfect’ calligraphy. She will take you through issues that event calligraphers can come up against, and show you how to ensure you are always able to deliver product-perfect calligraphy at high-profile, high-volume, high-pressure events. You will work on a variety of different challenging surfaces, learn how to adjust the balance of your lettering, be able to work successfully onto awkward objects, and do all of this while having an audience of curious customers watching you 'live'. Week 2 Jill has run The Modern Calligraphy Company since 1997 working closely with many high-profile clients, ensuring the calligraphy offered reaches their very exacting expectations. She will reveal what happens behind the scenes, examine an actual client brief, and explain how to navigate brand guidelines, legal obligations, and rates of pay. Week 3 Maisie will navigate you through the dos and don’ts of social media and how to use this powerful medium to maximise your impact. She will give you advice on how to use photography on location, to wow your clients and impress your followers. She will build on what you have covered in the previous weeks, give feedback and build on your knowledge so that you have total confidence in your abilities to work for prestigious companies as a professional calligraphy artist. You will receive one-to-one feedback on your skills and expert tips, tricks, and most importantly, troubleshooting! Jill will return for the last half an hour of the session for a Q&A. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide refunds or class changes for cancellations, so please make sure you can attend before you book.
